Wireless mice pose several problems. The first is that it needs to be charged with a battery, making it heavier. And the second problem is autonomy, which is usually not very wide, this means that the user needs to connect them to the current to charge the battery almost daily. The Razer Mamba + Firefly HyperFlux combo comes to fix these issues.
It is a cordless mouse without a battery, which takes the energy by induction from a special mat. Discover all the secrets of this genius with our review in Spanish. Prepared? Here we go!
First of all, we thank Razer for the trust placed in ceding the product to us for analysis.
Razer Mamba + Firefly HyperFlux technical features
Unboxing and design
The Razer Mamba + Firefly HyperFlux combo comes with a gala presentation and very typical in the products of the Californian brand. Both products are offered in a large cardboard box with high-quality printing based on the brand's corporate colors.
The box shows us high-resolution images of both products, and details their most important specifications on the back.
Once we open the box we find the mouse pad and mouse, all perfectly arranged and protected to avoid any type of damage during transport. Along with both products we find some stickers and all the documentation.
We now turn to look at the Razer Mamba HyperFlux mouse ! This is made of excellent quality black plastic, it is the same plastic found in almost all Razer products and it gives excellent results. This mouse reaches measures of 124.7 x 70.1 x 43.2 mm and a weight of only 96 grams without the cable.
It is a mouse that has been designed to be very light, and therefore very agile when it comes to sliding.
The general design of this Razer Mamba HyperFlux, is the same as that of the standard version of this mouse, something that we do highlight is that it has been chosen to include the PWM 3389 optical sensor with a sensitivity of 16, 000 DPI, quite a success.
Recall that the original Razer Mamba has a laser sensor, so the brand has totally hit with this change for the better. This optical sensor is the best on the market and offers spectacular performance with a sampling rate of 450 IPS and acceleration of 50G.
We continue to see the benefits of the Razer Mamba HyperFlux, the manufacturer has included no less than nine fully programmable Hyperesponse buttons using advanced Synapse software.
Between them are the two side buttons, two buttons on the top, the two main buttons and the wheel itself, both in pulsation and in displacement, which is a bit noisy.
Underneath the buttons are the Razer mechanical switches, these have been developed jointly with OMRON and offer the best quality, guaranteeing 50 million keystrokes, which means that we have a mouse for many years.
After seeing the mouse we now turn to look at the Razer Firefly HyperFlux mat, which is responsible for feeding the mouse as we have said above. This mat has measures of 355 mm x 282.5 mm x 12.9 mm together with a weight of 643 grams. The mat implements an induction power system for the mouse, for this it takes the emergency from a USB port of the computer.
The surface of the mat is microfiber, which guarantees a very smooth gliding of the mouse so that we can move it with little effort. The non-slip rubber base to keep it completely firm on our table. Razer offers us a second surface for the mat, this one is harder. Thanks to this, it will be better adapted to the needs of all users.
The Razer Firefly HyperFlux mat has reinforced edges to prevent fraying, something that will keep it in great condition for years to come.
This is how the mouse and the mat fit together, both products implement the Chroma lighting system to offer a spectacular aesthetic, it is a highly configurable system in 16.8 million colors and various lighting effects.
Razer Synapse 3.0 Software
For the management of Razer Mamba HyperFlux and Razer Firefly HyperFlux we have at our disposal the advanced Razer Synapse 3.0 application, which we can download from the official Razer website. We can use the combo without the application, although we recommend installing it to get the most out of it.
Razer Synapse 3.0 allows us to configure the functions of the mouse buttons, as well as adjust all the sensor parameters such as sensitivity, acceleration and polling rate. We highlight that the sensitivity of can be adjusted independently for the X and Y axes. Finally we have the lighting configuration of both products, being a Chroma system it is highly configurable.
Final words and conclusion about Razer Mamba + Firefly HyperFlux
The Razer Mamba + Firefly HyperFlux combo is possibly one of the best wireless mouse solutions on the market. The new Razer Mamba is much lighter than its previous version (having no battery), its 16000 DPI 5G thanks to the PWM 3389 optical sensor, mechanical switches designed by Razer, its Chroma RGB lighting and the 9 programmable buttons.
The only downside that we can find the mouse is that the scroll is somewhat noisy. We know that there are users who are looking for maximum silence on their PC, and this Razer Mamba + Firefly HyperFlux is not the best option for them.
There is also the unknown of wireless charging by induction. Is it really good for our hand? Does it inflict radiation towards our wrist or hand? Logically we will say yes and it is what most throws us back when acquiring this set combo. But it really should not give more radiation than a light bulb in our house or when we sunbathe on the beach.
We also talked to Razer and they told us about it:
The maximum power is 2.5W, which is lower than a typical Qi charger that gives off about 5 ~ 10W.
We would like to highlight the possibility that the mouse pad offers to choose a soft or hard surface for our mouse. Personally, I really like to use the soft mat as it does not tire my hand so quickly and also it does not transmit heat or cold so quickly.
Its availability is expected at the beginning of the second quarter of this year (end of April) and its recommended price for the public will be 279.99 euros. A somewhat high price, but there is very little competition with this wireless charging system.
