Razer Nari Ultimate is the top-of-the-range wireless headset version of California-based gaming brand Razer. It is undoubtedly a reference equipment on the market with 50mm neodymium speakers that with THX Spatial Audio and Razer Hypersense technology we will obtain digital surround sound of impressive quality, especially in the bass section. This set has a self-adjusting headband and cooling gel pads that will allow us to have them on for hours without feeling tired. Let's see what this headset can offer us.

And how can we not thank Razer for trusting us to give us their product for this complete analysis.

Razer Nari Ultimate technical characteristics

Unboxing and design

Razer Nari Ultimate come stocked in a huge subwoofer drawer type hard cardboard box with a gorgeous presentation and perfectly protected. The box is entirely covered by a black textile film and a large logo on the brand's distinctive green front.

The system of opening of the box is by means of fixing of magnet in its inferior part, and displacement by means of vertical rotation. (come on, open it up). The box does not have any visible information about the product on the outside.

Once we open the external cover and the first thing we find is several sheets that explain a little the presence of the equipment and two compartments. The one on the left is where both the USB cable for charging the headset and the cable for the analog connection of the equipment with a 3.5 mm jack are attached. The other sharing on the right keeps the headset inside along with an information and instructions book, warranty and a sticker.

Razer Nari Ultimate is a headset of considerable dimensions and designed to obtain maximum user comfort during long hours of gaming. The construction of the headset is based on plastic and steel, both in the headband and in some elements of the speakers. The whole set has a black and metallic gray color that gives it a fantastic and very premium look. The outer bridge is brushed gray, further enhancing the exterior appearance.

The Razer Nari Ultimate headband is self-adjusting and with a double bridge design so we will have no problems with practically any head. Thanks to this our head will rest on a soft part that will be in charge of raising or lowering the position of the set to make the best possible fit. Although it is true that it will be better fixed in more voluminous heads than in small heads, so be careful with sudden movements because they could fall.

The adjustment set is based on a soft headband on the inside, built on two steel rails and with a foam finish on the head and synthetic leather on the entire outside. The external bridge, on the other hand, is built on two brushed gray steel plates that provide the set with adequate rigidity for the best fit.

Razer Nari Ultimate is articulated on the two main axles to offer maximum adaptability. On the one hand, we fear the rotation of the frame where the domes are held on the vertical axis at approximately 100 degrees is permitted. And on the other, we also have a slight turn of the domes themselves on the horizontal axis. This completes the automatic adjustment system of the headset.

To finish this aspect, we have to say that, despite being a bulky equipment with abundant metallic elements and wireless, it has a low weight and is very easy to use.

The area of the domes has a completely round design with black perforated metal elements that house a plastic element in its interior area where the brand logo is placed with the Razer Chroma lighting system.

The pads are very bulky and soft and we found them really comfortable. They have a slightly oval design and are constructed of coolant gel covered in fabric and synthetic leather. The dimensions of these are 56 mm wide and 67 mm long, measured large enough that they do not disturb practically any hearing organ.

Internal features and benefits

Inside the domes are speakers with a power of 30 mW built with neodymium magnets and a diaphragm size of 50 mm. During testing we noticed really good quality sound and powerful bass with great depth at all low frequencies. The other characteristics of these drivers are a response frequency between 20 Hz and 20, 000 Hz, an impedance of 32 Ω at 1 kHz and a sensitivity of up to 107 dB ± 3dB.

We now turn to talk about the Razer Nari Ultimate microphone. This has a retractable design that will avoid all the shocks and the typical discomfort that an external microphone causes with normal use. It is a unidirectional micro with a frequency response of between 100 and 6, 500 Hz, a sensitivity of -42 ± 3 dB and a signal / noise ratio of> 50 dB. In this regard, it is a device with good features that meets minimum requirements, since we have obtained clear sound and good noise cancellation in remote situations.

The controls that we have in this headset are all located in the ear cups. In the right dome, we have a volume control using a classic wheel which, frankly, will not give too many good results in the long run and, in our case, does not have a too smooth adjustment. Perhaps it is the specific model that they have provided us, but we have found a very improvable adjustment. In this dome it is also located in a perfectly stored wireless USB transceiver.

In the left dome we find the wheel to configure the game-chat balance that will allow us to adjust the volume to our liking when we play games online with active chat. We also find the on / off button for the microphone, the microphone itself, the power button for the headset, the 3.5mm Jack TSRR port for analog connection and the mini USB port for charging the device's battery.

Razer Nari Ultimate features an analog connection with a 4-pole 3.5mm Jack connector and a 2.4GHz wireless frequency connection with a range of up to 12 meters, although in tests the range is greatly reduced due to the walls or objects in between.

We will also have at our disposal a lighting section with Razer Chroma technology, which, for practical purposes, what we achieve is an RGB lighting of the logo on both domes. We can configure the lighting animations from the software and the possibility of turning it on and off.

The battery life has been satisfactory, although not reaching the promised maximum of the brand, in total we have been for 11 and a half hours with them operating with the lighting activated and a full charge cycle.

But undoubtedly what we highlight most of these Razer Nari Ultimate are not only their performance in basic hardware, but also two excellent proposals that these gamer helmets bring us, such as the THX Spatial Audio technology and the Razer Hypersense technology.

With THX Spatial audio we will have control through the Razer Synapse software to activate the surround sound that is capable of simulating a 360 degree sphere. In the tests that we have carried out we must say that the operation is very good, being able to appreciate sounds around us and that come from below and from above.

And with the Razer Hypersense technology that is available only in the Ultimate version of these helmets, we will physically have motors that, working in conjunction with the speakers, will send vibrations to our ears so that we physically notice deep noises like explosions and fighting actions., both in games and in multimedia content. And we must say that we have really noticed the presence of these, both on the neck and on the back. This is also adjustable using Razer Synapse software.

Final words and conclusion about Razer Nari Ultimate

Well as good testers, we have tested these Razer Nari Ultimate for several days to play, watch the odd movie and listen to music, since otherwise it would not be possible to make an objective and fair assessment. The sound quality is very good above all at low frequencies, the spectacular bass performance provides a deep sound.

Another thing that we must also highlight is the good isolation of this headset, we practically do not listen to what happens outside when we have them on.

The sound is very clean, even at high volumes, without ever sounding saturated at high frequencies. What we should highlight the most and that we consider something mandatory is the performance of the THX Spatial Audio technology, the difference from the normal configuration is very noticeable and the audio quality increases a lot, especially in games. As for Razer hypersense, in the end we end up getting used to it with the passage of minutes and we will not notice big differences.

Regarding the comfort section, the really good sensations, the pads are spectacular without ever touching the ear with the speaker region, although at least in my case, they cause some heat after a long time with them on. The fit is also very comfortable without tightening or disturbing the head. We also liked the design a lot, the materials are of quality and the appearance of the set is very good.

The autonomy is good, although it does not reach what the manufacturer promises, at least with the lighting activated and the surround sound activated. Perhaps a little more autonomy would not have been bad for helmets of this range.

The performance of the microphone is good if we consider that it is a portable equipment and not exclusively intended for this purpose, it transmits a clear voice and captures sounds in good detail.

We will have this headset available on the official website of the brand for a price of 200 euros, it is a considerable price, although the results we believe are two worthy of top range helmets such as these.
