We return with a new review of a product from the Californian Razer, this time we have in our hands the Razer Seiren which is a high-quality microphone intended for those users who want to obtain studio recording quality from the comfort of their homes and without spending excessive money, this device will delight youtubers and fans of the audiovisual world.
Razer Seiren: technical characteristics
Razer Seiren: unboxing and product description
The Razer Seiren comes to us in a fairly large box with a very common design in Razer products with an absolute predominance of black and green. On the front we see a great image of the product and the rest of the sides have been used to detail all the most important characteristics of the product.
We open the box and first of all we see a black box that we open and inside we find the accessories that are part of the bundle, specifically we have a congratulation for purchasing the product, several stickers, a small user manual and a USB cable- Micro USB very well meshed and protected to prevent premature deterioration and with both gold-plated connectors for better contact.
We are already focusing on the Razer Seiren and the first thing that strikes us is the high weight it presents, a sign of the high quality of the materials that the brand has used in its manufacture, mainly aluminum. We are facing a microphone with a very considerable size, height of 30 cm, so we must be careful and make sure that we have enough space and it will not hinder us at our desk before purchasing it.
On the front of the Razer Seiren we can see the microphone condensers that are located at the top behind a cylindrical metal mesh. We go down to the middle of the front and see a Razer logo that will light up when the device is operating, one more sign that the brand loves the light effects on their devices. Already in the lower part of the front we have two analog wheels that will serve to control the recording function and the microphone gain. Regarding the recording functions we find the following modes:
- Cardioid: Streaming, Podcasts, Voiceover, Stereo Instruments: Vowels, Omnidirectional Instruments: Conference Calls, Bidirectional Events: Interviews, Instruments, Vocal Duos
Now we look at the back and we first appreciate a small screen with OLED technology that will show us the selected recording mode as well as the volume of the connected headphones, below it we find a third analog wheel that we will use to modify the volume of the headphones that we have connected to the Seiren. We have not finished with the rear since we found an additional button in order to mute the microphone, this one features lighting in red when it is muted and in green when it is not.
The upper part is totally free and we only see the grille to let the sound pass and help us catch it better, the mic itself is in this upper part of the Seiren. On the contrary, the lower part is heavily populated with elements, among which we find a thread that will serve to anchor the Seiren to a pole if we decide to disassemble it from the base by loosening the two side screws. We also see a 3.5 mm jack connector for headphones and the microUSB input to connect it to the PC.
Finally, the base of the Razer Seiren which is coated with a non-stick material to keep it firmly fixed on our work table and thus prevent it from moving while we are using it, as we can see it does its job perfectly and is very stable, even if we hit the wire.
This time we are not going to talk about the Razer Synapse application since in the case of the Seiren its utility is reduced to modifying the bit rate and sampling since all the other parameters are controlled directly from the controls included in the device itself, Something that has seemed very comfortable since we have much more at hand and there is no need to open the application to make a modification, in this sense it has been a success.
Final words and conclusion
After several hours using the Razer Seiren it is time to make a fair assessment of the product. The first thing that strikes us in a very positive way is being able to connect headphones to listen to the audio that the microphone is picking up, the truth is that it is very useful to check the voice and tone that we are putting in case it is convenient Make some modification without having to start the recording again for having done it wrong, of course in case of live streaming is essential since in those cases we have no way back. With this first point we already understand perfectly that it is a product focused mainly on youtubers and people who are looking for excellent performance in a device intended for a domestic environment. Of course, its recording quality is not comparable to professional mics, which cost 10 times more easily, but it is very surprising that it is not as far away as you might initially think.
WE RECOMMEND YOURazer Portal Review in Spanish (Complete analysis)The recording quality is simply excellent and the microphone has such sensitivity that it will be able to capture any sound, even being in my room it has been able to record the paraillos that were chirping down the street, so we recommend looking for a fairly isolated place to do recordings with the Seiren and thus avoid inopportune inconvenience.
We recommend reading the best PC Gaming settings 2016.
As for the construction it is simply spectacular with a very robust and solid design, in this aspect I would say that it is the best product that I have tried of the brand together with the Turret that we also analyzed a few days ago and left us with a feeling as good as this seiren.
In short, the Razer Seiren is undoubtedly one of the best home microphones that we can find on the market and I would even dare to say that it is the best, it has enormous sound quality, the possibility of listening to us live, many settings from the device itself, an unbeatable design… it may not be a product for all users, largely due to its high price, but if your leisure or professional activities require a high-quality microphone, there is no doubt, the Razer Seiren is your device.
The Razer Seiren is for sale for a price of 175 euros.
