Razer, the world leader in high-end peripherals, software and gaming systems, today announced the Razer Stargazer webcam, which achieves the best video capture quality and simplifies settings for streaming.

The Razer Stargazer will completely revolutionize the traditional use of a webcam that was previously only for video conferencing, but today is focused on streamers. This webcam allows the capture of 720p at 60 frames, compared to the 30 frames of other traditional webcams. The Razer Stargazer also steps up a notch when it comes to video conferencing, with 1080p high-definition capture at 30 frames. The Razer Stargazer webcam also includes a microphone with ambient sound cancellation.

Powered by Intel® RealSense SR300 camera technology, the Razer Stargazer will be able to present features of a next-generation webcam that will push beyond all currently known limits.

The Razer Stargazer's ability to digitally remove the background, or mostly known as the chroma effect, eliminates the need to install those screens and green backgrounds to generate such an effect. This Intel RealSense technology allows the webcam to detect the depth of the background and separate it from the front image, working with all the broadcast programs: OBS, XSplit and Razer Cortex: Gamecaster.

This dynamic background removal feature allows for possibilities far beyond gaming, such as Skype video conferencing with the ability to change backgrounds. This effect will also work with other communication software such as FaceRig, QQ Video and ooVoo, with facial recognition and digital scanning of objects in 3D from the first minute of installation and in HD. This will open the doors within the field of video game development, since all objects captured in 3D will be able to be ported directly to engines such as Unity.

And also, the Razer Stargazer webcam also offers the best facial and gestural recognition system on any consumer webcam, tracking up to 78 facial points and 22 points on each hand, allowing them to unlock operating systems like Windows through facial recognition, or enjoy titles whose gameplay supports hand movements, such as Nevermind or Laserlife, to enjoy a new immersive experience.

" The webcams have not made major innovations in many years, beyond resolution quality, " says Min-Liang Tan, CEO and co-founder of Razer. “ The number of people who use videoconferencing or streaming grows exponentially each year, and their needs are constantly evolving. The Razer Stargazer webcam will revolutionize the work of streamers, youtubers, 3D and video game designers, with all the benefits that come with all standard users. This is the webcam of the future. ”

Video game streaming has grown enormously in recent years, with a report from the consultancy SuperData stating that in 2015, content broadcast was generated, reaching 480 million viewers, with a value of 3.8 billion dollars.

With this, the Razer Stargazer webcam will be available in the second half of 2016, joining the rest of the Razer solutions for streaming, where we already have the Razer Seiren and Seiren Pro digital microphones, with all their accessories. Razer plans to send a limited and free number of Razer Stargazer webcams to streamers within its Sponsored Streamer Program.
