In the world of mice, especially gaming, we find models with almost all sizes, shapes and colors. Razer follows the trend as do a large number of manufacturers creating mouse models for large or medium hands, but here is Razer Viper Mini to break that rule. This cutie emerges as the little brother of the original Viper perfect for those looking for a lightweight mouse to play or work with and suitable for small hands. We see it?
Razer Viper Mini Technical Specifications
Unboxing of Razer Viper Mini
You already know how Razer is for packaging. Black and green are its star colors and already on the cover outside the company logo and model name, details such as the ultralight and ambidextrous design, Razer optical switches and Speedflex cable stand out. All of course accompanied by the Razer Chroma RGB seal.
On the reverse side, in addition to the previously highlighted points, details about its 8500DPI optical sensor, availability of local memory and presence of RGB lighting in two areas are added.

Razer Viper Mini design
The Viper range of razer is not unknown to us since we have analyzed the two predecessors of the Viper Mini: the Original Viper and the Viper Ultimate. Obviously both models have been the clear point of reference for which the Razer Viper Mini has fallen into our hands today, so we will probably compare its features and design here and there.
The base design of the Razer Viper Mini is nailed to the original saving the distances in terms of dimensions. The distribution of its pieces and their finish are identical in the overhead view.
M1 and M2 are completely independent buttons and in the central structure we observe the cable entry, integration of the scroll wheel and button to modify the DPI. The separation of this section with the back piece is given by a symmetrical cut in which we appreciate a trim with a slight shine also present in the original Viper.
At the base of it we find the characteristic logo of the Razer's three-headed serpent, which we can consider the main area with RGB backlight. With it turned off this has a very discreet very soft grayish coloring.
Despite the fact that the base form factor is ambidextrous, the truth is that the auxiliary buttons M4 and M5 are located on the left side, so from our point of view the Razer Viper Mini is a right-handed mouse at the bottom. These buttons combine on the flat surface the same texture used in the rest of the Razer material while the back of the buttons are beveled and are slightly softer, finishing with a slight shine.
We turn it around and here we have few surprises. Two generous white Teflon surfers stand out at first glance, the star material in many high-end models today given their improved friction rate compared to traditional vinyl.
Additionally highlights the large amount of information that is offered to us, which includes the mouse model, serial number, quality certificates and data on consumption (5V, 200 mA). Also observing the base of the Razer Viper Mini we will see a half moon surrounding the lower surfer, this being the second backlit area of the model.
Switches and buttons
The switches of the Razer Viper Mini are mechanical with optical technology (optical mouse switch), which means that their pulsations are not activated only at the moment the mechanism makes contact, but when the laser sensor present in them detects their movement. This switch format has become quite popular on premium peripherals for allowing a slightly faster response time, something that matters a lot in a competitive environment.
For its part , the scroll wheel has the traditional rubber coating with textured grooves to optimize grip. Here however we do not have those showy RGB rings that usually surround the piece in other models.
The wire
Razer Viper Mini is a wired mouse with a non-removable cable, but don't worry because you will hardly notice that it's there. In this model, as in other high-end ones in recent times, it has a very flexible fabric covering that replaces the fiber. This guarantees us a much lower drag sensation given the reduced density of this new material, making us feel totally free.
The Speedflex cable has an excellent length of 180cm and is accompanied by a rubber clip that we can store to wind it on future trips. Both in the termination of the connector with the Razer Viper Mini and in the USB type A port we find black plastic reinforcements against jerks. On the USB in turn we see the traditionally green tongue of the brand and the name of Razer serigraphed on the piece.
Putting the Razer Viper Mini into use
We have used the Razer viper mini for a little bit of everything, both work and leisure (which obviously includes gaming). This is a very competent mouse that has a design with high-end materials. The plastic pieces maintain that slightly grainy touch that favors grip. We personally prefer a softer material, but we found that this other format can be an advantage for those users who tend to sweat their hands.
An aspect that we have noticed comparing it with the original Viper and the Viper Ultimate is that its sides have been dispensed with incorporating a rubber or textured surface for the support of the thumb and little finger. We know that doing so would probably have slightly increased its weight and that's not what Razer is looking for for this model. It is not that we have not missed it much either since the cover material has good support, but it is a detail that we point out for those who have that preference.
Frankly, the Razer Viper Mini is easily loved. We have adapted it to our usual DPI (1800) and in comparison it is a mouse that flies over the mat. Undoubtedly those of you who have small hands and are looking for a light model should consider it among your options. Above the buttons, all of them have a defined sound click, with the scroll wheel generating the least sound.
Ergonomics
In terms of comfort and ergonomics, here is a dilemma. Obviously the name "Mini" in its name gives many clues, so those of you who have hands with a length greater than 16-17cm already tell you that this is not a mouse for you. On the other hand, for users below those numbers you are in luck because the Razer Viper Mini will fit you like a glove. All this because the approximate size of this mouse is 126.73 mm x 66.2 mm x 37.81 mm.
I personally have a medium-sized hand, just 17cm from the middle finger at the beginning of the wrist and I have had no problems. On the other hand, with palmar grip, the tips of my index and middle fingers protrude in front of the M1 and M2 buttons, so that my hand is slightly larger than the ones it is aimed at.
Due to the ambidextrous but button-to-left design, left- handed users are likely to have difficulty interacting with the auxiliary buttons, which should be activated with the ring or little finger. There's a good intention in the Razer Viper Mini, but we wouldn't consider it totally ambidextrous if it didn't have those same buttons on the right side so left-handed users could configure them there instead.
The grip from our point of view tends towards the palm and fingertips given the low elevation of the Razer Viper Mini's hump, which reaches its zenith in a position slightly behind the center of the mouse. We have a claw grip and it is the one we have been using since with our palms our fingers protrude slightly from the front. Apart from this, we have not experienced any inconvenience and the experience is generally comfortable, although due to the size of our hands, the mouse is a bit small.
Sensitivity, acceleration and DPI test
It is time to get technical and evaluate the Razer Viper Mini only for what it has and not for the impression it makes on us. We tell you:
- Acceleration: With up to 300 inches per second (IPS) and 35G of maximum acceleration, the Viper Mini lags behind the original (450 IPS and 50G) and the Ultimate (650 IPS and 50G). This is because the sensor used is technically inferior to that of both models, although the performance is still quite good. Pixel Skipping: A 300-inch IPS perfectly meets the gaming needs of the average user and you won't notice any incidents or irregularities that indicate pixel jumps or unwanted movements. Tracking: target tracking is smooth and uneventful. Surface performance: The Razer Viper mini is an ultralight 61g mouse, so its movement on almost any mat and surface is exemplary. This is also emphasized with Teflon surfers, which reduce friction. We have tested it on both fabric and polyurethane (rigid plastic) mats and what we can tell you is that if you are looking for speed, rigid plastic mats are your best bet. Of course, until you get used to it you will lose some precision.
RGB lighting
The lights are the downfall of many users, including us, and is that they are often a spectacle worth seeing to brighten your eyes, right? The Razer Viper Mini features two backlit zones. The first one is, of course, the company's imager located in the back of the hump, while the second is a band that illuminates the lower area of the hump.
This band illuminates by refraction the surface on which it is located, generating a shade slightly dimmer than that of the logo. This is due to the fact that its location is bevelled towards the interior, so that seen from a top angle it is not directly visible to the user. The maximum lighting has a good intensity, but due to the size of both areas it has a rather discreet presentation.
software
You already know our opinion on Razer Synapse and Razer central. This is one of our favorite setup softwares alongside Corsair's iCUE and Logitech's.
This is where we can adjust parameters regarding our Razer Viper Mini, which we can divide into:
- Customize: we manage profiles, macros and assign functions to buttons. Performance: Manage sensitivity levels and polling rate. Lighting: Sets the intensity, off and pattern of the RGB. Calibration: Sets the takeoff range based on the mat or surface used.
Additionally and as many of you may know we can synchronize the lighting patterns of our Razer Viper Mini with other Razer devices using Synapse. For more advanced effects we also recommend you download the Chroma Studio extension, which allows you to do even more crazy things.
Final words and conclusions about Razer Viper Mini
Although our hands are slightly large with respect to the user profile to which Razer directs this product, we must say that we have been more than satisfied with the experience of using the Razer Viper Mini. Without a doubt, it has seemed to us a correct and efficient mouse that will cover all the needs of the amateur gamer. The presence of the original Viper design in it is more than evident, maintaining the mechanical switches with optical technology, the 180cm Speedflex cable and adding the detail of an additional backlit area.
We recommend reading: Best mice on the market.
On the other hand, the capacity of DPI, IPS and acceleration of its sensor is lower in comparison, although it is pertinent to note that here we have sought to maintain high technical characteristics although not at the level of high competition. We daily PC or laptop users are the target audience for this model, especially those with hands of less than average length who are looking for a mouse that fits their finger in a market where generally most models are aimed at medium and large format.
We can buy the Razer Viper Mini on the official Razer website for € 49.99. Its price is almost half compared to its older brother and really the budget reduction is quite appreciated. So how do you see it? Do you think the Razer Viper Mini is a good alternative for small hands users? Let us know in the comments
