Screen resolutions: which one to choose to play or work? ? ?
Table of contents:
With 1440p (2560 x 1440 pixels) lurking, more and more people are wondering which screen resolutions are better. We give you our point of view after decades of experiences.
Apparently, Full HD resolution is beginning to falter, with " WQHD " being the next trend in screen resolutions. In the world of televisions we do not see these theorists "2K" (1440p is not 2K, but we will talk about this in another article), but we have gone from 1080p to 4K. As for the monitors, the screen resolutions have been changing progressively until reaching 4K and even some 5K. We tell you what type of screen resolution to choose to play.
What is the ideal resolution to work?
This question is too open to address all the nuances that a full answer requires. For the moment, we are going to tell you that it depends a lot on the work you have to do, and a Full HD resolution may suffice. So, we will choose a certain resolution for a given job.
As a personal opinion, I am adept at ultra-wide or ultrawide screens . These monitors are wider than normal, which provides more space on the desktop to be able to better distribute the windows and thus work more comfortably. We can find several screen resolutions in this regard, such as 2560 x 1080, 3840 x 1200, 3840 x 1600, 5120 x 1440 and 5120 x 2160.
Those of you who are designers, photographers, programmers, journalists or technicians, among others, will enjoy working in this way, I assure you. In the event that you are photographers or dedicate yourself to video editing, you will be interested in panels with good technology and high resolution for the treatment of high resolution photos or videos, for example.
We recommend reading about the types of monitor panels
On the other hand, these ultrawide monitors are perfect for gaming, although they are quite expensive in the high ranges. We will talk about this later.
Today, the standard resolution is 1080p or Full HD. Therefore, it is a perfect resolution up to monitors of up to 24 inches, but when we reach 27 inches the optimum is 1440p. We say this because the monitor we usually have very close, so 27-inch Full HD monitors will look a bit worse due to the dpi (Pixel Per Inch) ratio.
In short, the resolution is marked by the inches of the monitor, depending on these we will know if we need more or less resolution. On the other hand, the profession in question also sets the demands of certain screen resolutions.
What is the ideal resolution to play?
This question is somewhat more complicated to answer because two key factors come into play: frames per second and refresh rate. I say this because, if we have a good gaming team, we are going to want to play as high as possible, right? At the moment, the highest possible is 4K, but how many fps are you willing to play?
Thanks to the advances produced in the processors and graphic cards, today we can play 2K and 4K without problems. It is true that playing 4K becomes very complicated and it is a resolution that few can play, not to mention that the FPS fall like flies, at least for the moment.
On the other hand, I would like to tell you about the ultrawide monitors that are gaining so much fame. So far, they seem to me one of the best options to play video games. They offer a much more immersive experience, in addition to finding panels of all types and we have curved monitors. I think they are a perfect option because we have 1080p, 1440p and 2160p in these ranges.
So, to know what is the ideal resolution to play I have thought to do a kind of FAQ in order to clarify my position and respond appropriately, since it is a fairly open question.

Depending on the answers you get to these questions that we ask you, you will need one resolution or another. The current standard in video games is 1440p. Video game developers are putting the focus on these resolutions because graphics cards can offer a good experience; In 4K, there is still a long way to go.
