One of the most commonly forgotten items by owners of high-end equipment are undoubtedly peripherals. Today we bring you the analysis of one of the latest releases from Asus in this field, the ROG Gladius, a simple but really complete mouse that comes to compete with veterans in the sector.

It is a fairly discreet mouse for the usual in the ROG line, with red lighting, of course aimed at the most demanding players, with 6400 DPI sensor and Omron switches for the main buttons, internal memory, DPI change button with two positions, and two side buttons. Let's go with it.

Asus ROG Gladius

The box is very reminiscent of those of the Maximus and Rampage series motherboards, in red and with a window that lets us see inside:

Nothing to object to in this device, presentation and aesthetics quite good. To highlight the disassembly of the mouse, and the technical specifications on the back

The accessories are approved with note, with a fabric cover to carry it, as well as a short 1 meter cable (for use with a laptop or LAN Party), and a very good quality meshed cable for normal table use. As you can see, they are both fully removable

As we anticipated, we are facing a high-end mouse, with a somewhat simplistic design for the usual in gaming peripherals, since it only has two side buttons and relatively discreet pulse lighting for the rear logo.

Surfers are quite generous and of very good quality. The sensor in the center is also seen in the lower area, and the slider to release the cable at the top, very well indicated

Front and side view details with cable removed

The rough plastic on both sides is appreciated for the points where we are going to hold the mouse. The touch is good, although the softness present in mice of other brands, such as Razer or Logitech, may be a little lacking.

This simplicity makes it an ideal mouse for shooters, in fact it is noted that the mouse is especially oriented to this profile, users who are looking for a good quality mouse but without excessive additions that disturb, and it is precisely in this type of games where generally fewer extra buttons are needed, just precision and speed

The mouse is optimized for any type of grip, although personally given its length I would only say that it is really comfortable for users who prefer to support the entire palm of the hand, that is, the first case collected.

Although it would really be impossible to find any minimum delay in a quality mouse with 1000Hz polling rate, one of the exclusive innovations of this model is that it can be enabled up to 2000Hz with the latest drivers. It is not an especially relevant feature, but certainly any slight improvement is welcome. Acceleration is configurable, although most players will surely prefer to opt out of it entirely to have greater control of mouse movements, even at the cost of losing precision in slow movements.

To finish rounding off the kit, a very complete manual is included, which also details how to replace the switches, as well as a spare set of surfers

Another really interesting extra, a pair of Omron switches identical to those that comes with the standard mouse. All a detail that turns a mouse that is already among itself the most durable as a safe bet to endure many years without changing, no matter how much jog we give it.

conclusion

We are facing a really complete and round mouse, especially given the relatively recent incursion of the brand in this market for top peripherals.

The inclusion of high-end switches stands out, it is the only mouse that we have analyzed so far that includes Osrom switches of this durability, and it is undoubtedly also the first mouse that we have analyzed with such good documentation for assembly and disassembly, with a design that makes any change or repair really easy.

Although it is not yet listed in any Spanish store, a price of around € 60-80 is expected, in a fairly competitive range against mice such as the Logitech G502, the latter having a more aggressive aesthetic and more buttons, but worse switches and less facilities at the time of replacing them.

The sensor is a conservative bet in terms of DPI but really good if we look at acceleration, and the polling rate at 2000Hz (double the usual) finish rounding off the product. A highly recommended mouse for shooters who want the right buttons and a durable mouse that shows its ideal condition when the whole hand is supported.
