Challenging the Tegra 3

The Transforme Prime features a rear 8-megapixel camera with a backlit LED flash with CMOS sensor and a large aperture design to clearly capture every moment. It is equipped with the most advanced CMOS sensor.

It has a large aperture design to ensure light exposure, the ability to blur the background and emphasize the subject, making your photos bright and clear. With the high autofocus speed and color enhancement design, the prime transform can capture a clear and vivid image.

Camcorder and photographs quality demonstration.

The first Tablet-PC to have a Tegra 3 quad-core processor, the TF201 is set to revolutionize the market. This means it has even more graphics power than the Tegra 2 dual core of the first Transformer TF101.

The Tegra 3 actually has a fifth 1Gb memory that executes basic tasks, thus avoiding the use of all four cores of the quad-core processor, which lengthens the battery life.

As for accessories, apart from the keyboard, we can buy a case for the Asus Transforme Prime, the TranSleeve, which allows us a better grip and protection and can also be folded and used as a support, in writing mode or to watch videos. The exterior, made of microfibers, prevents possible damage and the hinges secure it to the equipment. It is available in multiple colors and its price is € 39.00

The screen is 10.1 inches with super IPS technology improving viewing angles. It has a very resistant Gorilla Glass.

The Qwerty keyboard is a great success on the part of ASUS. Converting an Android 4.0 Tablet into a notebook with a touch screen, trackpad and cursor. The keys are very similar to those found on any traditional laptop (and include the classic highlights on the F and J keys for correct finger placement to the touch).

The screen of the tablet, converted into a laptop, can be folded in the traditional way, which gives a beautiful and elegant design to the whole. The keyboard base has four rubber feet at the bottom to prevent it from slipping when placed on a flat surface, such as a desk.

The weight of the tablet does not stand out for being low (a total of 500 grams), which also double when connected to the dock. The set is quite slim, although heavy. Once everything is where it should be, the operating system automatically recognizes the keyboard, the cursor appears on the screen, and the trackpad is activated.

Of the characteristics it is necessary to highlight the high battery life, up to 12 hours depending on the use to which the tablet is subjected, and that when joined to the Qwerty keyboard (which has another battery that increases the autonomy up to 6 hours) reaches a total of 18 hours duration.

We were pleasantly surprised by the 8 mpx camera, since the quality of the photographs is very high. The videos are real 1080p recordings although the definition of the image decreases a lot when you zoom.

There is little, very little doubt that the ASUS Transformer Prime is the most powerful tablet on the market. After having tried it for a while we have to say that it is fast, it has a great appearance and it has seemed to us a very ergonomic gadget.

Points highlighted by the professional review team:

  • The format, very practical and ergonomic The 4-core processor allows fluency in unique applications The Transformer Prime has the ability to connect via HDMI to television and allows 2D and 3D games to be played The 8 mpx camera that takes totally clear photos, warm and well focused. The long battery life is a point to highlight since we have clearly noticed it. The recording of videos in HD, which although it is one of the few tablets that is capable of doing it, there is still much to improve, since it loses too much quality in the images when you increase the zoom.

Regarding the price, in Spain the Asus Transformer prime is being marketed for approximately 550 -600 € with the Qwerty keyboard included. We must say that the price seems a little high if we consider that it does not have 3G connectivity, but the power and speed of the gadget, which make it unique, can compensate us for every euro spent on it.
