Review: cooler master eisberg 120l prestige

Anonim

Getting started with liquid cooling always costs because of the high cost of its materials, fear of mounting and leaks, or potential disappointment with performance.

Cooler Master offers two ranges of liquid refrigeration: those that do not need maintenance, such as the Seidon series that we already analyzed a few days ago. And those that we can perform maintenance such as the Eisberg series. On this occasion, we have had in our laboratory the Cooler Master Esiberg 120L Prestige with a single radiator and a single-piece tank pump-pump.

Cooler Master shares a scheme of what its innovative Eisberg block is like:

Cooler Master Eisberg 120L Prestige in front of the camera

The Cooler Master Eisberg 120L comes protected in a robust black-purple-purple case. On the main cover is a picture of the Eisberg pump and fan. On the back all the features and technical specifications of the kit.

Each component is perfectly protected and embedded in polyethylene bags to avoid bumps and scratches until the client arrives.

The kit includes a very complete bundle, consisting of:

  • Kit Cooler Master Eisberg 120 Prestige. 2 x Fans 120 mm. 2 x Anti-vibration rubber frame for the fans. Rheostat cables with resistors for 5V and 7V for fans and pump. Mounting accessories for Intel and AMD. Instruction manual.

The kit includes two Cooler Master SA12025SA2 fans with dimensions 120 x 120 x 25 mm and an amperage of 0.13A. They are high performance and have a speed of 1600 RPM, an air flow of 602 CFM and an average loudness with 20.5 dBA at maximum performance. They are not PWM therefore they will always work at their maximum power…

We have two options to reduce your speed:

1º) If your motherboard is capable of regulating speed.

2º) Using the cable with 5V / 7V resistance.

Three-pin fan connection.

Our first impression when seeing the kit is of robustness and quality components. In the following image we can see the excellent flexibility of both tubes in different orientations, thanks to their 34 cm long pipe.

Composed of a simple radiator with measures 156 x 124 x 30 mm made of copper and not brass. Although the radiator is top quality, we think it is more than enough to start with a liquid cooling kit, although personally I find it fair enough for low / mid overclock.

One of the genius of this kit is the use of fittings in black matt color, which we can replace with others of a higher range. In addition, it allows us to mount custom tubes with other dimensions and change the radiator for a larger one.

The tubes have rings. What for? This system is used in liquid refrigerations to give robustness and that the tube does not puncture, although this time aesthetically it looks great with the tube in black.

At the top of the block we can see the model and the manufacturer's logo engraved. We have two connections with fittings, a “fill” that serves to empty and fill the pump equipment and a 3-pin cable that is in charge of operating the kit.

The block seems like a work of art, being a CPU block, including a pump inside and a small tank reducing the size of the equipment to the maximum. All this we can appreciate from the small window that incorporates.

For those of us who have installed a lot of liquid coolers, it takes away a lot of headaches, since we would only need new tubes and a radiator according to the box. Although everything has its advantages and disadvantages, and I think that adding a complementary tank would help improve temperatures.

The block has a protective sticker and is made entirely of copper, very bright indeed. This material aids in excellent heat transfer.

1150/1155 socket installation

Both the screws and the accessories for each socket are separated by an airtight but not labeled plastic blister. The manual brings everything very well illustrated but on a very small scale. To be honest, I looked over and saw that I was getting more and more involved, which is why I started riding the Eisberg 120L Prestige following my instinct.

The platform that is within the reach of most pockets is the 115X and therefore we have mounted it with Intel Haswell. We fit the Intel adapters in the block, beware, the anchorage must be perfect.

We have 4 screws with hooks that we must anchor in the holes of the socket. A picture is worth a thousand words.

We adjust the "long screw" to the hooks, they are like rods.

We apply the thermal paste in the processor and place the block.

Now we only have to install the washer, the spring and the nut. We tighten to the maximum and we have installed our block. It only remains to install the radiator in the box and connect the 3-pin cable with or without a 7V to 12V adapter to the motherboard.

To test the actual performance of the liquid cooling kit we have stressed the Intel i5 4670k (Socket 1150) processor with prime numbers (Prime95 custom) for over 24 continuous hours. For those who do not know, Prime95, is a well-known software in the overclocking sector, which allows us to detect failures when the processor works 100% for long hours. In the same situation we have programs that use other stress algorithms such as Linx and Intel Burn TestV2.

How are we going to measure the processor temperature?

We will use the internal sensors of the processor. For this test on Intel processors we will use the “Core Temp” application in its latest version. Although it is not the most reliable test, it will be our reference in all our analyzes. The test bench will be around 29ºC ambient temperature.

Let's see the results obtained:

Final words and conclusion

The Cooler Master Eisberg 120L Prestige is a pre-assembled parts cooling kit for use. The quality of the components is excellent and includes a large number of accessories. It comes equipped with two high-end fans that run up to 1600 RPM and launch an air flow of up to 60.2 CFM.

The Eisberg 120L Prestige is surely the next step to closed refrigeration kits, since it allows us to reuse any of its components or expand it by incorporating compression fittings that are also matt black. This style of kits we must take it into account, because if we change the box we can change the radiator for a larger one if it were not enough.

Another important fact is its innovative block with pump and built-in tank. It has a small compartment that stores all the liquid that moves the pump with 25dBa. Although 12V is very noisy, we can use the reducing cables that will significantly reduce the noise of the pump.

Regarding performance it has been excellent knowing that it has a simple 120mm radiator. The test equipment used is an Intel i5-4670k in stock values and with an overclock of 4500 mhz with 1.18v. At idle we have 32ºC and 38ºC respectively, while at maximum (full) 53ºC and 70ºC.

It is currently available at Aquatuning for € 140. A high price, but that can be very good for a high-end box that only accepts 120 fans such as the Silverstone FT02.
