Cooler Master leader in high-end cooling components, cases and peripherals. He has sent us one of his most powerful liquid cooling kits: Cooler Master Seidon 240M with double radiator and two fans with large air flow.

After the good taste in the mouth that we have had with the Cooler Master Seidon 120XL, we will see if the Seidon 240M meets the expectations that we have placed in it.

Cooler Master Seidon 240M in detail.

A robust box with a design identical to the 120XL version. Black and dark purple predominate.

At the back we have all the features and specifications of liquid cooling.

The cooling kit and accessories are perfectly protected against any shock during transport. At the same time they are sealed in plastic bags for the entry of dust.

The Cooler Master Seidon 240 M is composed of a double radiator for two or four 120mm fans. It has a complete measurement of 273 x 120 x 27mm and its very light weight. The radiator is not very thick, that is why we recommend fans of high revolutions and with a lot of air flow such as those included in the kit.

Includes two low evaporation corrugated tubes. This kit does not need maintenance because it has a closed system. Obviously this kit will last us for many years… We have investigated the world forums and have not found any case of failures in the Seidon series.

We recommend not emptying the filler cap, because you will lose the warranty with Cooler Master and above all you can damage the radiator with the liquid you use.

The two fans are black and are 120mm in size. Its most attractive point is that they are PWM and rotate from 600 to 2400 RPM. If we are going to overclock we will listen to them if it is not a grave. HIS MTBF is 40, 000 hours.

The Cooler Master Seidon 240M has wide compatibility with AMD FM2 / FM1 / AM3 + / AM3 / AM2 + socket and Intel LGA 2011/1366/1156/1155/1150/775 socket.

The upper part of the block is low, compact and has the logo printed on it, which lights up with a blue LED when it is on.

When we look at the block / pump we see that it is one-piece copper. Although it does not have a mirror finish, it has a rough surface but the material is quality.

Assembly and installation

The assortment of screws and accessories is of quality. Although I really liked that the installation adapter is so easy and intuitive. And is that Asetek are quite bad in that regard. The bundle includes:

  • Liquid Cooler Kit Cooler Master Seidon 240M2 Cooler Master PWM 600 to 2400 RPm Fans. AMD and Intel platform mounting kit. Screws and wiring. Thermal paste syringe Manual and quick installation guide.

Accessories for AMD socket.

And accessories for socket 1150/1555/1556 and 2011.

Instruction manual, warranty book and quick installation guide.

On this occasion we have used a mini itx srock Z77-E Itx plate as a plate for the photo shoot of how to mount this kit. We sit at the back and install the backplate by adjusting the pins to the holes in the socket.

We tighten the nut to the screw.

For a correct installation we use the Phillips head to make a perfect fit.

We apply thermal paste. My recommendation a uniform line, something like this. Let's try not to put too much.

We have four small screws that we use to install the adapters to the block. In this case we have used the Intel 1150/1555/1556.

The result should be exactly this on both sides of the block.

We tighten the 4 screws to the nuts and connect the 4-pin PWM connection (the one on the pump) to the motherboard. It only remains to fix the double radiator inside the box and Installation done in 10 minutes !!

To test the actual performance of the heatsink, we stressed the Intel i7 4770kk processor (Socket 1150) with prime numbers (Prime95 custom) and with the two Cooler Master fans in PWM mode. Prime95, is a well-known software in the overclocking sector and allows us to detect faults when the processor works 100% for long hours. It is the same case as LINX which stresses the CPU and memory at the same time.

How are we going to measure the processor temperature?

We will use the internal sensors of the processor. For this test on Intel processors we will use the “Core Temp” application in its version: 1.0 RC3 It is not the most reliable test, but it will be our reference in all our analyzes. The test bench will be around 29ºC ambient temperature.

Let's see the results obtained:

Final words and conclusion

The Cooler Master Seidon 240 is a maintenance free liquid cooling kit. Its dimensions are 273 x 120 x 27mm and it has a very light weight. It incorporates a double 240mm radiator, so we must pay special attention to which box we are going to install (since we will need two holes for 120mm fans together). It integrates a one-piece copper block, protected by a translucent plastic housing and with blue LEDs when it is working. Also attached is a syringe with thermal paste with which we can make a couple of applications.

It is 100% compatible with all AMD and Intel sockets. Its installation in the different sockets is quite simple and the manual helps us a lot. In a matter of 15 minutes we have the kit installed in our processor and box. The great variety of accessories is another of its positive points: Y cable PWM, anti-vibration rubbers for the fans and hardware for four fans.

To check its performance we have used two configurations, the first with two fans and the other with four fans in push & pull with an i7 4770k processor and a GTX770 graphics card. The difference from the other Cooler Master Seidon 120XL liquid cooling kit is only 4ºC in the configuration with two fans. While those with four fans increase the difference by up to 7ºC, a quite significant figure since it has twice the surface.

Regarding noise, we must emphasize that playing and working the fans are quiet and we have not heard the pump or emit strange noises like other kits. However, being PWM our motherboard will balance the fan speeds in Quiet / Performance.

Currently it can be found for a fantastic price of € 93. If we have space in our box for a double radiator, it is very worth your purchase. Without a doubt… It has met all our expectations!
