The graphic is presented by a black box with the figure of a blue eye. In it, it is screen printed which is a version with Overclock, the incorporation of the WindForce X3 heatsink and the 2048 MB of GDDR5 memory.

The Bundle includes:

  • Gigabyte GTX670 OC graphics card. 6-pin and 8-pin molex to PCI power cables / thieves. Instruction manual and CD with software / drivers.
We miss DVI connectors to D-SUB or HDMI.

The graphics have an incredible aesthetic. The most important innovation is the incorporation of the WindForce X3 heatsink with three silent 8 cm fans.

One of the most important features is the use of a long PCB. For those who do not know the reference GTX670 have a cut PCB . Furthermore, we know that the GTX670 OC includes high-end Hynix “H5GQ2H24MFA R0C” memory , which will help us to overclock well.

Like the Gigabyte GTX680 OC, it has used a Richtek controller (RT8802A) to regulate 5 + 2 phases of card power and chip VID.

Gigabyte has chosen to include an 8 + 6 Pin power. This will allow us a higher level of overclocking and feeding.

It is time to talk about the Windforce X3 heatsink. As we have previously commented, it includes 3 fans of 8 cm. Aesthetically it has improved a lot, although its casing is plastic. But it gives a very aggressive and streamlined touch to the GPU.

Detail of one of the three fans.

It incorporates an infinity of aluminum sheets and the base of the GPU is copper.

The fans are PWM. This will allow us to create profiles via software.

The graphics is PCI Express 3.0 compliant.

The graph includes two DVI outputs, one HDMI output and one DisplayPort. Enough to mount any solution on the market.

To evaluate the performance of the graphics card we have used the following applications:

  • 3DMark11.3DMark Vantage.The Planet 2.Resident Evil 5.Heaven benchmark 2.1

All our tests have been carried out with a resolution of 1920px x 1200px.

What are we looking for in the tests?

First the best possible image quality. The most important value for us is the average FPS (Frames per second), the higher the number of FPS, the more fluid the game will be. To differentiate the quality a little, I leave you a table to assess the quality in FPS:

FRAMES BY SECONDS

Frames for Seconds. (FPS)

Gameplay

Less than 30 FPS Limited
30 - 40 FPS Playable
40 - 60 FPS Good
Greater than 60 FPS Fairly Good or Excellent

Let's not fool ourselves; there are games that can have an average of 100 FPS. It may be because the game is quite old, does not require excessive graphic resources or that the graphics is the most powerful on the market, or we have thousands of euros GPU systems. But the reality is different, and games like Crysis 2 and Metro 2033 are very demanding and do not usually give high scores.

GIGABYTE GTX670 OC @ STOCK TESTS

3Dmark Vantage

3DMark11 Performance

P9098 points

Heaven 2.1 DX11

2090 points and 83 FPS

The Planet 2 (Directx11)

108.2 FPS

Resident Evil 5 (Directx10)

319.8 pts

The Gigabyte GTX670 OC comes standard with 980 Mhz on CLOCK / 1502 Mhz Memory GPU and a 1059 Mhz Boost with excellent results (see previous page).

Now we want to give it one more turn and we have stabilized it at: 1092 mhz on GPU CLOCK / 1648 MHZ Memory and 1171 Mhz on GPU Boost. The incredible result in 3DMARK11: 10320 PTS !!!! But we have used a larger equipment: Intel i7 3930K + Asus Rampage IV EXTREME.

Capture of the moment:

In the section of the temperature / consumption has improved the excellent level to the ASUS GTX670 Direct CU II:

* To check temperatures in full (The Furmark software at 1920 × 1200 pts has been used for 2 hours).

Gigabyte has designed one of the best, not to say, GTX670 graphics cards today. And it is not for less, incorporating improved phases (5 + 2), Richtek controller (RT8802A) so that it monitors any instability and ultra durable Japanese capacitors.

The graphic has a WindForce X3 heatsink installed with three 80mm fans. This new heatsink has a more aggressive and streamlined appearance than previous versions. It is especially quiet at idle / idle (perfect for a QuietPC) and at full performance / full is a blast. It is the quietest graphics card (Along with the Direct CU II 670) that I have heard today.

To test the graphics I have used a high-end equipment: i7 3770k at 4600mhz, an Asus Maximus IV Extreme motherboard and a Thermaltake ToughPower 1350W power supply. The results have been excellent: 3DMARK11 P9098 points, 3DMARK Vantage 39311 points and Lost Planet with 108.9 FPS. I've also tested performance with Battlefield 3 at 70 FPS on average. All this, consuming 69w in idle and 296 w in full.

One of its strengths is Overclock, thanks to its 5 + 2 phases and Ultra Durable capacitors. Stabilizing at 1092 mhz on GPU CLOCK / 1648 MHZ Memory and 1171 Mhz on GPU Boost and obtaining 10320 PTS with 3DMARK11. Wonderful!!!!!!

The Gigabyte GTX670 OC is an impeccable card and it could be perfect if it included a backplate that would give firmness and drop a couple of degrees.

Its price ranges in the best online stores around € 385 ~ 390. Being a better option than any GTX680 for quality / price.
