Kingston HyperX Predator DDR4

Kingston ships the product to us in a generic cardboard box, as it appears to still not have the official product packaging. On the side of it, we find that it is the Kingston Predator HyperX memories at 3000 mhz (HX430C15PBK4 / 16). Once we open it we see that it includes two blisters with two modules each that make the necessary Quad-Channel for Intel Haswell-E processors.

This series in particular will appear with several kits available with 2 or 4 modules and with capacities ranging from 16 GB to 64GB. The profiled speeds will be from 2133 mhz to the highest of 3000 mhz.

This particular model integrates the predefined XMP profiles as standard and which we detail below.

Profile 1 XMP = 3000MHz (PC4-24000) with latencies 15-16-16-39 and voltage 1.5 V. Profile 2 XMP = 2666MHz (PC4-21300) with latencies 14-14-14-36 and voltage 1.5 V.

Note: We can even set lower frequencies with a nominal voltage of 1.2 V.

The memories have an excellent cooling design. The heatsinks are very high, and the black color serves to increase the cooling capacity of the memory chips, where it will offer us a small plus to increase frequency and overclock.

One of the problems that we can find is the compatibility with heatsinks due to its high profile (5.52 cm high). A priori we will not find compatibility problems with the 2011-3 platform, thanks to the separation between the memories and the socket. For example, we can install double tower heatsinks and three active fans such as the Noctua NH-D15 without any inconvenience. Although we must be aware that today whoever mounts a platform of this caliber already has or is going to install water cooling both by parts or already compact double grill.

Final words and conclusion

The Kingston Predator DDR4 at 3000 mhz are high-end RAM memory modules both for frequencies and for excellent cooling, thanks to their high-profile heatsinks. DDR4 RAM is currently quite expensive and its availability is not available to everyone. We have versions from 16Gb to 64gb, there are motherboards with X99 chipset that accept up to 128GB of capacity, which gives a good boost to home workstations.

In our tests we have seen that the performance achieved is very good. Where we also see that the differences with DDR3 are not great as we expected and the differences between frequencies from 2133 to 3000 mhz are up to 3 FPS.

In socket 2011-3 we will not have a compatibility problem with large heatsinks, since there is enough space to install a double grill heatsink with 3 fans without colliding with them.

In short, if you are looking for quality memories, fresh, with good speeds and good latencies. The Kingston PredatorX DDR4 are one of the best options we can choose from.
