The KD20 OMNINAS makes it easy for us to share data between computers between all family members on a home network. It doesn't matter if you are using a laptop, PC, smartphone, game console or television with SmartTV, the KD20 feels like home in any environment and works with numerous network devices without incompatibilities.

Installation is quick and hassle-free. Just connect the device to your WLAN router (switch or directly to your PC), start the CD and in just a few clicks your new NAS system is available to all devices on the network.

It has an elegant design of pure white color and high quality of the material mix. The 2.5mm thick aluminum body ensures better heat dissipation.

The built-in 70mm fan only activates under high loads or high temperatures to protect installed hard drives. In this way it reduces noise and goes unnoticed.

If we have activated the “Share BOX” function, we can access the stored data from any PC with Internet capacity after entering the password. For access from smartphones and tablets, it is recommended to use its "OMNINAS" program found in the Android and / or Apple store.

Shuttle meets all the requirements for excellent packaging: sturdy box, plastic protectors, cover for components and accessories in a good box. Its design is simple but effective.

The bundle includes:

  • Nas Shuttle OmniNAS KD20 European Power Adapter and Cable. RJ45 Network Cable. Screws required to install a maximum of 2 hard drives. Instruction manual, quick guide and CD for installation.
The equipment has a compact and small format: 17 × 9 × 22.5 cm. It comes equipped with a dual-core ARM 11 processor (PLX NAS 7821) that reaches 750 MHz, 256 MB of DDR2 RAM and its own Linux system.

The left side is brushed aluminum (2.5mm thick) in silver. The right side is white and the OmniNAS logo is screen printed? Its elegant design reminds us of Apple.

The back we find a 70 mm fan that automatically activates when the equipment exceeds 55ºC, a network socket, 2 USB ports and the power connection.

The equipment is turned on from the button located on the upper left front. EYE: to turn off we must do it from its web interface.

The compartment is opened from the "Push" button. The NAS comes very well equipped with an SD card reader, USB 3.0 port and four LEDs.

The NAS KD20 incorporates two bays a pair of bays that allows us to install 2.5 or 3.5-inch disks or SSDs of up to 4 TB each. To get the most out of our disks, it allows us various RAID configurations (JBOD, 0 and 1).

And once our two hard drives are installed. We close the compartment and connect it to the light.

The installation is very simple, we must connect the NAS to the light and to our router / switch on the RJ45 plug. Since we do not know the IP assigned to it, we have to use the CD provided by Shuttle and press the Search / Search button and it will tell us what the IP is. In this case it is 192.168.1.133.

The NAS allows us to install 1 or two disks in RAID 0.1 or JBOD. We have tried all the options and none have let us down. We choose the option and create the Array of disks. The NAS will reboot and we will re-enter the IP address in our browser.

The user is admin and the password is left blank. From the control panel allows us to change the password, which we see as a mandatory requirement.

The team has many options: configuration, storage, sharing, USB, backup, download Bitorrent, share box and the media server.

In configurations it allows us to configure the itunes server, assign a manual IP since by default it includes an automatic one by DHCP. It also allows us to update our time zone, a log to view the incidents of the NAS, restore from the factory, update the firmware and change the password.

In the storage section it allows us to view the status of the hard disk, its use, the modality that we have it and even format it. Remember that we can install drives up to 4TB.

In the share option it allows us to create folders where to save the data, assign users with passwords and their privileges for each folder.

Having a card reader, 2 rear USB connections and a front USB 3.0 allows us to make direct copies when we connect the flash memories. We can also use the NAS as a print server. In other words, share our printer within the working group.

In backup it allows us to make backup copies remotely / internally or physically (USB), regularly on hard drives or just music from itunes.

The Bitorrent option can only be active if the media server is disabled. We are loading the torrent and it gives us a detailed view of their status, level of download and sharing.

WE RECOMMEND YOU Virtual reality event with Play Planet and the top 40

Share Box allows us to create masking our IP with the Omninas subdomain / DNS. In practical functions it allows us to connect from another location by typing in the web browser: nombre.omninas.net. And from there take a severe control of our team: D.

The media server option allows us to share the NAS with all our computers and electronic devices (smartphone, console…).

The Shuttle Omninas KD20 is the first NAS to launch the European brand on the market. It is intended for home, small workgroup and / or office use with two 2.5 / 3.5 ″ hard drives bays up to 8TB.

Its design is very elegant, thanks to the combination of 2.5mm aluminum and shiny white plastic on its side. Nothing else to see it has reminded us of the design of Apple. We have loved its small dimensions (17 × 9 × 22.5 cm.), Which allows us to install it in any corner of our house. Inside it houses an ARM11 PLX NAS 7821 dual-core processor of 750 mhz each, 256 MB DDR3 and its own embedded Linux system.

Its installation is summarized in connection of the power supply and the network cable (RJ45). We have a web interface for NAS management. Having two disk bays allows us to mount a single disk system (SINLGE) or several "RAID": (JBOD, RAID 0 and RAID 1).

What does the KD20 offer us? The classic functionalities of a NAS: share data in our network group, but with extra and indispensable functions in these times: Bitorrent downloads, backups, USB disk extension, remote connection from another network and smartphone compatibility / consoles / appliances.

We have tested its consumption with one and two discs:

  • At rest with one disk: 10w / with two disks: 13W At maximum load: 18w / with two disks: 22W.

Also, I would like to highlight the smart cooling system. What does it consist of? The 70 mm fan automatically activates when it detects that the equipment has reached a temperature above 55ºC. This allows us to keep hard drives cool, safe and eliminate any noise. The aluminum casing also aids in cooling. Without a doubt, a real joy for lovers of SilentPC and low consumption.

The price of the NAS ranges from € 140 + shipping costs. Without a doubt it is the most powerful and cheapest NAS in this price range.
