Thermalright is one of the world's leading refrigeration specialists. A few weeks ago we announced the official release of your AXP-100 trigger designed for HTPC and small equipment (Micro ATX and Mini ITX).

Thermnalright presents its product to us in a basic cardboard box. Inside with excellent packaging and everything very collected.

The heatsink has reduced dimensions 121.1 x 105.47 x 44.15 mm specially designed for small equipment such as HTPC, ITX GAMING or Home Servers. As we can see in the following images, it is built in top quality aluminum and designed with infinity of fins.

And with a total of 6 heatpipes of 6 mm each.

The base is nickel plated copper, the mirror design is perfect. By the way, perfectly protected.

Adapters for installation, screws and thermal paste of the highest quality and finishes.

Regarding the cooling accessory, it includes the TY-100 10 cm fan. Among its most important characteristics we have a PWM 900 turn at 2500 RPM, air flow of 44 CFM and it emits a loudness between 22 to 30 dBA. Also, it offers support for 12 and 14 cm fans.

We insert the backplate through the back of the motherboard. We choose the intermediate hole that is compatible with the Socket 1155 and insert the screws with their washers (it is between the plate and the backplate). Compatibility is absolute for all sockets from LGA 2011 to AM3 + / FM2.

Now we fix the support with the plate with the female threads.

We insert the adapter and fix with the 4 screws.

Once the thermal paste has been applied, as we have seen previously, we fix the sheet to hold it with the socket. We install the fan with its 4 screws and that's it. We can choose between two positions: horizontal and vertical at the time of installation, due to the layout of the plate I preferred the vertical option;).

And that's what the heatsink looks like. Remember you can install a 120mm and 140mm fan with the adapted stage that includes the heatsink.

It supports high profile memories on ATX boards. But we see a problem for ITX or Micro ATX boards that will end up eating some memory modules and that cannot please the final consumer. So be careful. We advance that with the Asus P8Z77-I DELUXE we lose the first memory module.

Professional Review has always been characterized by reviewing with high-end or exclusive material. We've caught up with a nice i5 3570k and an Asus P8Z77 Deluxe motherboard. All tests have been in stock vs. the heatsink as standard to see the difference between good cooling and basic or poor cooling. All tests have been carried out at 19ºC ambient temperature stressing the CPU with Prime95 1792k for 24 consecutive hours.

As you have seen in this analysis, the Thermalright AXP-100 is a heatsink built with high-end finishes and unique characteristics for ITX equipment. Among them we can find its compatibility with a 100/120 and 140 mm fan. In addition to absolute compatibility with all current Intel (LGA 1156-2011) and AMD (AM3 + / FM2) sockets.

Regarding its performance, we have verified that in idle it does not exceed the 28ºC processor and in full 51ºC with the TY-100 10 cm fan. If we add for example the TY-140 we lower the temperature between 2 to 3ºC, reducing loudness. Be very careful, that more standard fans do not allow us to install high profile memories.

Its installation has been somewhat laborious, but very intuitive thanks to its manual. Its installation can last about 20-30 minutes at most. How is the loudness? The 100mm fan is somewhat noisy when it is at 12v (over 2500 RPM), but at low speeds it is extremely quiet.
