We know that AMD is working on new Navi graphics cards for the intermediate and low range, which will be placed below the RX 5700 series. In the last few hours, first performance tests of the RX 5500 have emerged, which we will detail below..

RX 5500, First performance tests leaked

AMD is preparing low-end variants of its NAVI GPUs based on the new RDNA graphics card architecture, which will replace the current Polaris variants. AMD's upcoming Radeon RX 5500, as it's called, has been spotted on GFXBench, a benchmark tool that's available for Windows, MacOS, iOS, and Android.

As we see in the shared capture, the benchmark was performed on a Windows operating system using the OpenGL API. The test carried out is that of Manhattan, which gave a result of 5, 430 frames in total, that is, about 87.6 fps for the RX 5500. Compared to the RX 5700 XT, it achieves a total score of 8, 905 frames and 143.6 fps. In this way, the RX 5700 XT would be almost doubling the performance of the RX 5500, making it clear which segment this graphics card is targeting.

There are still a lot of details left on the specs of this graphics card, but we can expect this card to compete with Nvidia's GeForce GTX 1660/1660 Ti GPUs, where AMD has no competing offering so far. Possibly, we will also see more information about the RX 5600 series, since there is a great difference in performance between the 5500 and 5700 XT models that must be filled in here. We will keep you informed.
