Rx 5500, first performance tests vs rx 580 and gtx 1660 oc

German site Heise.de has released what would be the first performance test of AMD's RX 5500 graphics card, which has been compared to the RX 580 and GTX 1660 OC.
RX 5500, First performance results revealed
The RX 5500 was revealed in the month of October, but today, it is not possible to buy it in any store as it is exclusively for pre-assembled computers, such as the HP Pavilion TP01-0004ng.
The graphics card that was tested has 4 GB of video memory and corresponds to the AMD reference design. The Radeon 5500 family will replace the Polaris RX 500 series cards. This new series features a Navi 14 GPU and uses the new RDNA architecture. The GPU contains 1408 shaders, 32 raster units, and 88 texture units.
The GDDR6 memory can be 4 or 8 GB running at 1750 MHz with a bandwidth of 224 GBytes / s. Navi 14 is also PCIe 4.0 compliant, but the Radeon RX 5500 can only use eight PCIe tracks instead of 16.
For testing an Intel Core i7-8700K and 32 GB of RAM were used. With this gear, the RX 5500 scores 12, 111 points on the 3DMark Fire Strike, while the factory-fitted Sapphire RX 580 Nitro + scores 12, 744 points. In the middle is Nvidia's GeForce GTX 1660 OC with 12, 525 points, which also runs on the factory turbo.
In games like Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the RX 5500 gets 59 fps at 1080p and details in Ultra. RX 580 is a little ahead with 65 fps, the GTX 1660 leads with 69 fps.
Distances in Far Cry 5 are similar, at 72 fps (RX 5500) vs. 75 fps (RX 580 Nitro +) and 85 fps (GTX 1660 OC).

AMD's new graphics card records between 120 (3DMark) and 133 Watts (FurMark) with full 3D load. This puts it practically at the level of the GeForce GTX 1660 (128W) and is significantly more efficient than the RX 580 (207/12 watts). So AMD has done its homework.
If AMD is encouraged to launch this graphics card to the market, it must do so at a really competitive price, perhaps slightly below 170 euros (approx), which is what the RX 570 costs in Spain. We will keep you informed.
