We have a new leak regarding the RX 5700 XT, which will be out alongside the RX 5700 in a couple of days. Two of the possible GDDR6 memory providers that would use the RX 5700 XT, which is the most powerful variant in the series, are detailed in this leak.

Samsung and Micron are the providers of GDDR6 memories for the RX 5700 XT

Again Komachi , from Twitter, has highlighted the entry in an RX 5700 XT vBIOS leaked from TechPowerUp (now retired) indicating two different codes for GDDR6 memory, either from Samsung or Micron:

  • 8192 MB, GDDR6, Samsung K4Z80325BC 8192 MB, GDDR6, Micron MT61K256M32

There is a history of memory supplied by Micron that is not necessarily the strongest choice when it comes to finding the best performance out of a graphics card. This is probably not going to be a problem for most of us, but for those used to overclocking and getting the most out of a GPU. In this case , the Samsung memories are usually better for performing an important OC to the VRAM.

We still do not know how the two manufacturers are used to supply the cards; Micron could be the main provider of AMD reference cards, while Samsung could be the one to be seen in third-party models. Or there may be no key distinction in terms of what is used and where it is used.

If the type of GDDR6 memory is not specified, this could be a problem, since it will depend on the model of each manufacturer and that we will not know until someone has the graphics cards and tests them to identify what type of memory they are using..

We cannot talk about how much difference there could be in overclocking, perhaps the differences are tiny. But there is the doubt.

AMD will launch the RX 5700 and RX 5700 XT this July 7. We will keep you informed.
