RX VEGA was released earlier today and we have some very interesting insights on what the more 'modest' version that has been announced so far, the RX VEGA 56, which competes against Nvidia's GTX 1070, can represent.

RX VEGA 56 would have great overclocking potential

According to a test that has been published to the people of Chiphell, this graphics card can easily outperform the GTX 1080 by applying some overclocking. For the test, RX VEGA 56 and GTX 1080 FE were used, plus others that you can see in the comparative graph.

Making an average of different video games, we see that VEGA 56 with frequencies in stock is only 10% less powerful than the GTX 1080, when overclocking it. Recall that the AMD graph has frequencies of 1, 156 MHz-1, 471 MHz in normal and turbo mode, which we do not know to what extent the overclocking applied for this test reaches, with which it manages to overcome the GTX 1080 by 12%.

Results

We knew from before the launch that the RX VEGA 56 was going to position itself above the GTX 1070, due to the tests that had been leaked, but the overclocking capacity it can have to achieve this performance at a price that should be less than the variant of Nvidia. At the moment, in online stores like Amazon or PCComponentes, we cannot buy the RX VEGA 56 in Spain, which should reach a value above 400 euros. Currently a GTX 1080 can be obtained in stores above 550 euros, so if this is confirmed it should be falling in price very soon.

We are going to have an extensive review of the new generation of VEGA graphics cards very soon. Stay tuned for news.
