Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus vs Galaxy S7 Edge

Design and display

The main difference between the two terminals is in their designs, since despite having similar dimensions, the Galaxy S8 Plus houses a larger screen, 6.2 inches compared to the 5.5-inch screen of the S7 Edge.

On the other hand, both devices offer very high resolutions (2960 x 1440 pixels on the S8 Plus and 2560 x 1440 pixels on the S7 Edge), as well as Gorilla Glass protection (version 5 on the S8 Plus and version 4 on the S7 Edge).

Cameras

In terms of cameras, both the Galaxy S8 Plus and S7 Edge have cameras with a resolution of 12 megapixels, F / 1.7 aperture, optical stabilization and autofocus. What's new is that the S8 Plus brings a technology used in the Google Pixel that allows you to take three consecutive photos to choose the best one and further correct noise or overexposed or underexposed areas.

As for selfie cameras, the S8 Plus sports an 8-megapixel camera with an iris scanner and auto focus, while the S7 Edge comes with a 5-megapixel camera.

Hardware

In the hardware section we can highlight that the S8 Plus no longer has a physical Home button, but was now replaced by on-screen buttons. However, the new model still offers a fingerprint scanner, albeit at the rear.

Among other specifications of the S8 Plus, we note the presence of a Snapdragon 835 processor or a 2.3GHz eight-core Exynos 8895, as well as 4GB of RAM, 64GB for storage, microSD support and a 35000mAh battery.

In the S7 Edge we find a Snapdragon 820 processor, as well as 4GB of RAM, 32 or 64GB of space for data storage, microSD support and a 3600mAh battery.

In terms of connectivity, both terminals have support for 4G LTE networks, although the Galaxy S8 Plus comes with Wi-Fi 802.11 ac Gigabit (LTE Cat. 16) and Bluetooth 5.0, compared to the Bluetooth 4.2 LE of the S7 Edge.

Finally, also note that the Galaxy S8 Plus comes with a USB-C port, Bixby virtual assistant and the support for the Samsung DeX dock, which will allow you to turn it into a desktop computer.

When buying some of these models, you should probably take into account that the autonomy will not change too much or could even worsen in the case of the Galaxy S8. In addition, the performance of the camera is very similar to the S7 Edge camera, although it must be recognized that the new model brings a more impressive design. In the end, you should also keep in mind that the S7 Edge could be worth about 300 euros less than the Galaxy S8 Plus.
