Samsung has become the largest manufacturer of NAND memory in the world so it is in a privileged position, thanks to its large income it can afford to invest more than anyone in research into new technologies. One of his new creations is the Z-NAND memory that arrives in response to Intel's 3D-XPoint. This new memory is still a great evolution of the current NAND that takes some features of DRAM to improve its performance in a significant way.

For now, very little is known about Z-NAND memory, but we do know that it will be based on a new unknown controller and will have latencies 70% lower than current NAND-based NVMe drives. In the first Samsung-based Z-NAND disc, it would already be reaching the most important clients in South Korea in the form of samples with a storage capacity of 800 GB. This model makes use of a PCI-Express x4 interface and is capable of reaching sequential read and write figures of 3200 Gbps, on the other hand, its random performance reaches 750, 000 IOPS and 350, 000 IOPS in reading and writing, so we are facing a new monster for the most demanding users.

No details of their prices have been given, but we are talking about models with capacities of 1 TB, 2 TB and 4 TB.
