Samsung already schedules 5nm chip manufacturing for 2020
Table of contents:
Samsung is currently producing chips in a 7nm EUV process, which is used, among other things, for some current Galaxy S10 series Exynos chips. However, Samsung is one step closer to mass production of an even smaller production process, 5LPE (5nm low-power early).
Samsung already schedules 5nm chip manufacturing for 2020
Like the previous manufacturing process, EUV technology is also applied. Samsung has reportedly certified all of the partners' tools to start the production process for the 5nm chips. That would mean we would see the first 5nm chips in the first half of 2020. Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S11 smartphone is a possible candidate for it to use the first SoC using this new manufacturing process.
This news is interesting, especially since Samsung will be in charge of manufacturing the next new generation Nvidia GPUs.
