Sapphire and asus show their radeon r9 285
2 days ago we announced the official presentation of the Radeon R9 285 based on AMD silicon Tonga pro. Today we have found two custom models, one from Sapphire and one from Asus.
The Sapphire Radeon R9 285 ITX Compact Edition consists of 1, 792 Shader Processors, 112 TMUs and 32 ROPs at a frequency of 918 MHz along with 2 GB of 5.50 GHz GDDR5 memory attached to a 256-bit bus.
It has a height of 11 cm and a length of 17 cm, it occupies two expansion slots and its cooling is carried out by an aluminum radiator crossed by four copper heatpipes and equipped with a 100 mm fan. It is powered through two 6-pin PCI-Express connectors and includes four DVI-shaped display outputs, one HDMI 1.4a and two Mini-DisplayPort 1.2. Includes a DVI to VGA adapter.
The Asus Radeon R9 285 Strix equips the new Strix cooling system based on the DirectCU II but which has the charm of operating in passive mode under low load so it does not generate any noise. Its specifications are identical to those of the Sapphire model in the absence of knowing the operating frequencies that will be revealed at launch, although they should not differ much from the previous model. Its dimensions are unknown.
