Gigabyte & powercolor rx 500 series revealed with polaris 20
Table of contents:
- RX 500 will use the Polaris 20 architecture
- Polaris 20 is a revision with higher frequencies of Polaris 10
You can already see the first models of the RX 500 series from the Gigabyte and PowerColor companies, which have been leaked thanks to the videocardz agent. This new series will squeeze the Polaris 10 architecture with more efficient variants, the Polaris 20 XTX, XTL and Lexa Pro.
RX 500 will use the Polaris 20 architecture
In the capture of GPU-z we can see the first major change in the Polaris 20 XTX architecture, the frequency of the GPU can now reach 1450MHz compared to 1266MHz for Polaris 10 in its variant in stock. This marks us that the new Polaris 20 is more efficient in its 14nm process and that we will find, most likely, with frequencies that exceed 1500MHz thanks to overclocking.
Gigabyte and PowerColor unveiled their own models of the RX 580, which used the Polaris 20 XTX core. RX 570 that will use the Polaris XTL core and the RX 550 that will use the Lexa Pro as the most basic model in the series, as well as the RX 560 that did not appear between the leaks.
Polaris 20 is a revision with higher frequencies of Polaris 10
Although AMD has given it another name and increased the frequencies, it is basically the same architecture optimized to try to get the most out of Polaris 10 - 11 before making the leap to the new generation VEGA, which should be arriving in the next months. With the increase in the frequencies of the RX 500 series, in the case of the RX 580, we would have to notice approximately 10% more performance compared to the RX 480.
The 8GB RX 580 is expected to sell for about $ 199, the 4GB RX 570 for $ 149 and the 2GB RX 550 is expected to sell for under $ 99.
