Seagate prepares the world's fastest SSD
Seagate's new SSD drives to achieve the highest speed by making use of the NVME protocol and the Open Compute Project specification. With these premises, the new Seagate SSD, still unnamed, promises to achieve a transfer rate of 10 GB / s, nothing more and nothing less than 4 GB / s faster than the current fastest SSD on the market. Along with its incredible speed it boasts the OCP storage specification for increased energy efficiency.
This unit will be connected to the motherboard through a PCI-Express x16 bus in order to obtain the necessary bandwidth for its very high performance quotas. Next to it will come a second unit with a more committed performance of 6.7 GB / s that will be based on a PCI-Express x8 bus.
Neither the prices nor the release date have been revealed so far.
