Sharkoon TG5 RGB is an ATX chassis that was announced at Computex 2017, and which has created high expectations for its spectacular design with a large side window and RGB LED lighting. Finally we have it in our hands, with which we can already offer you all the details and the secrets that this preciousness hides.
Wanting to know more about this chassis? Well, don't miss our complete analysis in Spanish!
First of all, we are grateful to Sharkoon for the trust he placed in ceding the product to us for analysis.
Sharkoon TG5 RGB technical characteristics
Unboxing and design
The Sharkoon TG5 RGB chassis comes perfectly packed in a large white box, the box shows us a great image of the chassis, and informs us of all its most important features and specifications so that we do not miss a single detail, something that is always appreciated.
Once we open the box, we find the chassis covered by a plastic bag and perfectly accommodated by two pieces of foam that will prevent any type of damage during transport to the end user. Along with this, we find an assembly manual and a small box, inside which all the accessories necessary for mounting the equipment in this beautiful chassis come.
Finally we see the Sharkoon TG5 RGB chassis in the foreground, it is an ATX semi-tower that reaches measurements of 465 x 220 x 452 mm and a weight of 8.5 Kg, figures quite typical for a product like this, although its weight it is somewhat elevated. High quality tempered glass, SECC steel and plastic have been used to manufacture it.
The most striking thing about the Sharkoon TG5 RGB is its spectacular design, both the main and front side panels are made of the best quality tempered glass and with a thickness of 4 mm, this is one of the reasons that its weight is quite high. Behind the front glass are the three 120mm fans with RGB lighting, as we will see later, they give an incredible look to this chassis. The inclusion of these three fans, already guarantee good cooling as standard, something that does not happen in all chassis. On the side of the front we see the air inlets for the fans.
The main side is entirely occupied by the tempered glass window, which gives it a very elegant look, and it looks great once the equipment is running, we'll see later.
While the other side is built by sheet metal. There is really little else we can highlight about it.
We reached the upper area, here we find the possibility of mounting up to three 120 mm or two 140 mm fans, which gives a total of seven fans maximum, counting the four that are already included.
Sharkoon has installed a magnetic dust filter to protect the equipment from the ingress of dirt. In this upper area, we also find the I / O panel with two USB 2.0 ports, two USB 3.0 ports and the 3.5 mm connectors for audio and micro.
At the back we highlight the seven expansion slots, the 120mm fan grille included as standard, and the power supply area at the bottom, as it should be so that it draws fresh air directly from the outside. We emphasize that the fan allows some regulation in its position.
In the lower area we see 4 rubber-finished plates to avoid transferring vibrations to the table, a removable dust filter is also included for the power supply. Although we would have seen a much easier filter to extract.
Interior and assembly
Seen from the outside, it is time to look at the inside of this chassis. To do this we just have to remove the side window and we will be able to see perfectly all its benefits. The first thing we highlight is the area of the motherboard, this Sharkoon TG5 RGB supports ATX, Micro ATX and Mini ITX models, offering good possibilities in this regard.
Your bundle consists of:

Before going into more detail, we leave you an image of the least attractive part of all the chassis.
Sharkoon TG5 RGB offers us space to place a CPU heatsink with a height of up to 167 mm and graphics cards of up to 400 mm, it is one of the best chassis in this aspect, which guarantees us compatibility with the most powerful hardware without problems. We also highlight that behind the motherboard there is enough space to manage the wiring, a 10 in this regard.
On the front it allows us to place a radiator of up to 360 mm, in the upper area another radiator of this size could be placed, although the space is quite fair so it will be necessary to put a thin one. In any case, a 360mm radiator on the front should be more than enough for most users.
We turn to look at the area of the power supply, which is fully faired to protect the rest of the components from its heat. This chassis is compatible with sources up to 205 mm in length, with this we will be more than enough for the most powerful teams.
In this area is where we find the bays for hard drives, it allows us to mount two 2.5-inch drives and two 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch drives, with this we will not have problems with lack of storage.
Finally, we leave you an assembly of one of our systems. We hope you like it!
Final words and conclusion about Sharkoon TG5 RGB
After a year of its launch in Taiwan, we have been able to test the Sharkoon TG5 RGB cabinet with one of our most powerful test benches in existence today. Although among its most important characteristics we come across a sublime aesthetic with all its glass panels and a great lighting system.
As you have seen during the analysis, the installation is simple and not at all tedious. We can have our gamer team assembled in just 45 to 60 minutes. The possibility of installing liquid cooling on the front or on the ceiling opens up a wide range of possibilities in thermal solutions. It also offers us compatibility with high-end graphics cards and heatsinks, so we will have no complaints with it.
We recommend reading our guide on the best PC chassis on the market
From their own experience, the full tempered glass chassis have a great ease of picking up dust inside. If you buy this chassis or similar features, you will have to take care of it monthly (clean its panels at least) and every two months do a general cleaning. Since they are somewhat prone to accumulate dust.
Currently we find it in stores for a price of 85 euros. We believe it is one of the best options for RGB lovers or for the user who wants to mount an Enthusiast PC configuration. What do you think about the Sharkoon TG5 RGB ? Have you bought yourself or do you intend to? We want to know your opinion!
