The arrival of the NUC in our lives seems to be imminent for its price and especially for its power in a box that fits in one hand. The Shuttle NC01U features a Mini-DisplayPort, HDMI, Intel Gigabit Ethernet, audio, USB 3.0, USB 2.0, RS-232, and an M.2 slot. An interchangeable wireless module with WLAN (802.11ac) and Bluetooth is already installed. The enclosure can accommodate a 2.5 ″ drive (SSD or HDD). USB 3.0 ports can be used to quickly charge mobile devices. Each of the models can integrate up to 16 GB of DDR3L memory (SO-DIMM).

High resolution 4K content playback (3840 x 2160 pixels) is possible from NC01U variants with an Intel Core processor. The image signal can be transmitted with 60 Hz through Mini-DisplayPort and with 30 Hz through HDMI.Another feature of these low-power barebones is the PCI-Express connection to the outside, located at the bottom of the device. This connection is for connecting future external extensions, such as dedicated AMD and NVIDIA graphics cards, an additional 2.5 ″ drive, a network interface, and more USB and serial ports. More details will be published shortly.

The NC01U has a silent heat pipe based cooling system and is only 141 x 141 x 29 mm (D x W x H). All variants can be attached to different surfaces and suitable monitors with the supplied VESA mount, virtually disappearing from the desktop.
