The guys at Shuttle have sent us a super modular and upgradeable barely 3-liter miniPC. Specifically, we have had in our laboratory the Shuttle XH110G of the LGA 1151 socket compatible with seventh generation processors, DDR4L RAM, M.2 SSD, SATA III and single slot graphics cards. Do you want to know more about this mega PC? Don't miss our review!

We appreciate the trust placed in leaving us the sample of the mini-PC for analysis:

Technical characteristics Shuttle XH110G

Unboxing and design

Shuttle is committed to a very basic presentation but that meets its objective: that the product arrives in perfect condition. The cover already shows us the silhouette of the mini-PC as well as its intangibles.

While on the left side we come across all the most important technical characteristics and the serial number of the product. Once we open the box we find the following bundle inside:

  • MiniPC Shuttle XH110G Power cord and power supply Instruction manual and quick guide CD with drivers Screws Thermal paste CPU protector 2.5-inch disk tray

The Shuttle XH110G It is a desktop computer with a size of 3 liters that has been designed to offer the best performance in the smallest possible size. Shuttle has put a lot of effort in taking care of both its external and internal aesthetics, and above all having the possibility of updating it with the desktop components (no processor -U), RAM, HDD that we really need.

It has dimensions of 250 x 200 x 78.5 mm and a weight of 1.9 kg. The main side is formed by a metal window with small holes that allows better cooling of all internal components.

The front panel offers us wide connectivity possibilities with the following connections: 4 x USB 3.0, 3.5 mm jacks for audio / micro and the power button. Perfect for quick access to the most common options, although we miss a USB Type C connection.

Shuttle XH110G does not equip an internal power supply, but we must use the external one that comes with its accessories. In the lower area we highlight the 4 metal legs, the possibility of installing a VESA support and a small cover that will allow us to expand the SATA storage unit, although we will see it during the analysis.

At the back we connect different ports of the I / O panel of the motherboard, we detail it below:

  • RJ45 Gigabit LANHDMI 4 x USB 2.0VGA 2 x Antenna connections Power zone

Components and interior

It is quite easy to access the equipment, we just have to remove the two screws that are on the main side. We don't need any tools for it, so it's very easy to access.

The motherboard allows us to connect a LGA 1151 socket processor with up to four cores based on the Kaby Lake architecture. for example we can choose an i7-7700k that works at a frequency of 3.8 GHz in base mode and 4.4 GHz in turbo mode.

Despite having such a compact size, it is a team that if we equip it with a single slot graphics card and without power connections we can play decently in Full HD resolution. It should not be very difficult for us to find RX 560 or Nvidia GTX 1050 with these characteristics (we advise you to look at Amazon and in German stores).

Detail of the heatsink in charge of cooling the processor. It has a copper base and two nickel plated heatpipes that will be cooled with two small fans.

Along with the processor we have two slots that accept up to 32 GB of memory and a speed of 2400 MHz and in a dual channel configuration to ensure maximum performance in all use situations.

Although at the storage level it could have been better used, we have an M.2 SATA & NVMe slot available to install a high-speed SSD. It is therefore a team that allows us to enjoy all the benefits of flash storage without giving up the high capacity of mechanical disks.

If we remove the screw from the bottom cover, we can find a SATA connection and a USB connector.

The USB drive can be useful for those users who want to start a Linux operating system or any distribution of it. While the HDD disk we must install the tray that came to us in the bundle. In our case we have opted for a 512 GB SSD.

Test of performance

Not having a low-profile and single-slot graphics card in our laboratory, we have chosen to assemble a modest computer with an Intel Pentium G4400, 8 GB of DDR4 SO-DIMM memory in Dual Channel, a 512 GB Kingston SSD and the operating system Windows 10 PRO. At CPU-Z we received a good result.

While with AIDA64 we obtain the expected read and write rates for this platform. It is not bad, since it is a team destined to the low cost.

Final words and conclusion about

The Shuttle XH110G is a very compact, high-quality miniPC that has improved considerably in design compared to previous models. Allowing us to mount 7th generation Intel desktop processors, DDR4 SO-DIMM memory and M.2 connection to install NVMe SSD.

Regarding temperatures, we have obtained 21ºC at rest with the Intel Pentium G4400 and 100% stressed after 24 hours is 51ºC . So we are more than happy with the efficiency of the cooling system.

We recommend reading the best processors on the market

What we miss is that with its 3L, it could have taken better advantage of the storage options. For example, a greater number of connections to install several SATA III drives, so that we can have more internal storage.

Its price in online stores is around 250 to 265 euros. We think it is a good option if you need a desktop processor and the possibility of installing a dedicated graphics card. Of course a 100% recommended option.
