Shuttle is one of the best manufacturers of very compact equipment, one of its latest creations is the Shuttle XH110V barebone with an ultra compact design that has been specially thought to build equipment for HTPC, small servers or very compact workstations.
First of all, we thank the trust placed in giving us the barebone Shuttle XH110V for its analysis:
Shuttle XH110V technical characteristics
Unboxing and product description
The Shuttle XH110V comes in a fairly compact cardboard box in which we did not find a striking design but it more than fulfills its most important function of protecting the system during transport.
We open the box and we find the Shuttle XH110V itself well protected as well as numerous accessories, among which are the external power supply, a CD with the controllers, a thermal paste syringe, and the usual piece of plastic that comes with the sockets. Intel to protect the pins. We also found a quick start guide available in multiple languages including Spanish.
The Shuttle XH110V is a computer that comes with the chassis and various pre-installed components such as the motherboard, the power supply and the CPU cooler. Like most barebone, if not all, the user only needs to add a processor, RAM, and a storage unit that can be either HDD or SSD.
In this case we have a motherboard equipped with an Intel H110 Express chipset and compatible with Skylake processors with a maximum TDP of 65W, it is clear that it will not be a maximum performance equipment but it will offer outstanding performance thanks to the great energy efficiency of Intel's Skylake architecture. It offers us extensive connectivity options in the form of dual Gigabit LAN, USB 3.0 and 2.0, HD audio, DisplayPort and HDMI with 4K support.
We are already focusing on the Shuttle XH110V itself and we see a really very compact team, so much so that it almost looks like a 5.25-inch unit. Despite having such a small size, good ventilation is seen in the lower part of the left side and in the right part, something very important since it is essential to take care of the refrigeration in such a small equipment to avoid components from toasting.
The front of the team shows a design with a shiny finish that gives it a quite elegant look and, above all, a professional look. The front includes space for the installation of a 2.5-inch bay and several hidden ports, two USB 3.0, two USB 2.0 and a pair of 3.5 mm jack connectors for audio and micro.
We now look at the back where we find a complete I / O panel that includes the DC IN connector for the power supply, a PS / 2 port, serial ports, Two LAN ports, four USB and three ports plus jack 3.5 mm for audio and micro.
To access the interior of the Shuttle XH110V just remove a couple of screws, no one will complain that it is difficult. Once opened we can proceed to install the different components that are missing to have a complete equipment. First of all we see a protective plate that we will have to remove in order to access the motherboard and install the processor and RAM memory modules.
Thus remaining once removed.
At the top is a bracket for the installation of two 2.5-inch storage units, this is easily removable and allows the SATA data and power cables to be managed in a very orderly way for a very clean assembly.
The CPU cooler comes pre-assembled and includes a docking system very similar to Intel stock coolers, something that makes installation very quick and there will be no problems given the low weight of the unit. Finally , the CPU cooler includes two copper heatpies with direct contact technology and a small radiator that will be placed next to the fans on the right side of the chassis to expel the heat generated by the CPU. The two SODIMM ports are also very easily accessible.
We also found a super slim connector for the USB 3.0 headers and two cables for the USB 2.0 and HD audio connectors.
We continue with the possibility of installing DDR3L RAM at a maximum speed of 1, 600 MHz on Dual Channel.
WE RECOMMEND SHuttle XH310, new 3-liter Mini PCs with support for Coffee LakeWhile it also allows us to connect a high-speed M2 disk to make the most of our internal space. To conclude we leave you the chosen configuration: i7-6700k, 8GB DDR3L and a 120GB M.2 disk.

Final words and conclusion about
The Shuttle XH110V is a very small desktop computer that passes in the ideal companion as HTPC or for users who do not need to play. It is compatible with the new Intel Skylake processors , DDR3L memory and allows connecting both SATA and M.2 disks.
The performance will depend largely on the processor that we install and the amount of RAM (we recommend in dual channel). For example a Pentium G4400 does not perform the same as an Intel Core i7 6700, if you are looking for something basic you can assemble the equipment for just 350 euros, but if you need something more powerful you can opt for the Intel i5 or i7 ranges.
In our tests we have used a 6700k, 8GB DDR3L and an M.2 disk. The results have been quite good, only that at maximum power the heatsink fans were revolutionized, but always holding temperatures at 62ºC.
Its price in store is approximately 220 euros and its availability in online stores is immediate. A great miniPC for different uses. Good job Shuttle!
ADVANTAGE |
DISADVANTAGES |
+ CAREFUL DESIGN | - AT MAXIMUM POWER THE FANS ARE LISTENED. |
+ GOOD REFRIGERATION, ABLE TO SUPPORT UP TO AN I7. | |
+ ALLOWS TO INSTALL DDR3L MEMORY, M.2 AND SATA DISKS. |
|
+ VERY COMPACT. | |
+ LOW CONSUMPTION BY NOT ALLOWING DEDICATED GRAPHICS CARD. |
