Shuttle, a well-known brand of mini-PCs, has launched its Shuttle XPC DH310 barebone with support for 8th generation Intel processors. This product joins the recently announced SH370R6, being two much-needed updates to get the latest on Intel.

New Shuttle XPC DH310, ultra-compact barebone

The biggest peculiarity of this product is its extremely small size, with a steel chassis with just 1.3 liters of volume, and only 19 x 16.5 x 4.3 cm in dimensions. Obviously, this makes it impossible to install graphics cards, but it is ideal for office equipment where space really matters.

Regarding the compatibility of this barebone, its motherboard with H310 chipset allows using 8000 series (and probably 9000) processors from Intel, and the included cooling system supports CPUs with a maximum TDP of 65W, that is, we could supposedly use it up to with the i7-8700, although perhaps in this case it is somewhat excessive.

Now it's time to talk about the possibilities of expanding this barebone. The processor is not included as in other barebones, so we can change it for the one we want. For RAM, 2 SO-DIMM slots are used, such as those used in laptops. Finally, we can store our data on up to a 2.5 ″ hard drive, be it an HDD or an SSD, an M.2 SSD. NVMe and an SD card. Come on, we could have an Intel Core i5 / i7 with up to 6 cores, 32GB of RAM, a multi-TB HDD and an ultra-fast SSD, for example.

To finish, connectivity is quite wide within literally what fits: 2 Gigabit Ethernet ports, 8 USB, 2 RS-232 (quite old, but still used in some environments), 1 HDMI 2.0 and 1 DisplayPort 1.2. With these last two, you could use two 4K monitors at 60Hz. Optionally, we can connect a WiFi / Bluetooth module, a VGA port, a stand to use the mini-PC vertically, a rack mount, or a cable for remote power.

In short, it is a state-of-the-art barebone with wide possibilities in a small size.

The recommended price of this Shuttle XPC DH310 is € 214 + tax, which would be about € 260 in Spain, and is already available for purchase in various stores throughout Europe. It contains the chassis, the board with all ports and connectivity options, and an external 90W power supply.
