The popular online dating service Match.com has conducted a revealing survey of users of iPhone and Android phones, showing that most people judge by the model of phone you use.
Your phone says more than your way of dressing
The survey was conducted with more than 5, 500 people from the United States and the results are very conclusive. First, the survey reveals that 21% of users who have an iPhone negatively judge someone who owns an Android Smartphone. Instead, 15% of users with Android phones would misjudge someone who owns an iPhone.
Since we are talking about a site about online meetings or appointments, here it has nothing to do with the quality of the operating system or the functionalities of the phone, but rather a socio-economic perception.
For an important sector of society, Android phones are the economic alternative for those who cannot buy an iPhone, therefore, if you have an Android smartphone, it means that your purchasing power is not high enough and, therefore,, you are less attractive. This is what the Match.com survey reveals, but there is more.
If you have an 'old' Android or iPhone phone (3 or 4 years old) you have a 56% less chance of getting an appointment. Again, the socio-economic factor plays here, if you cannot update your phone at least every two years, for most of you you are low-class and therefore you are not interested.
This is part of the 'millennial' generation, where the mobile phone says much more than your way of dressing.
What do you think? Would you discard a person for the mobile phone they use?
