Silverstone makes a pretty attractive presentation for the Silverstone Argon AR06 . On the cover we can see in large letters the heatsink model, a product image and a QR identifier that takes us to your website. Already in the back area we have all the characteristics of the product in 9 different languages.
Once we open the box we find that all the content is very well protected and the interior presentation is excellent. The bundle consisting of:
- Argon AR06 heatsink . 92mm Fan Mounting Kit for Intel and AMD Thermal Paste Tube Quick Installation Guide
The Silverstone Argon AR06 has very tight dimensions with 104 x 58 x 92 mm (width x length x height) and a light weight of 263 grams without fan. The Silverstone Argon AR06 is built on a single tower with 54 aluminum fins welded to four thick copper heatpipes. What is a heatpipe? They are the arms that join the base that makes contact with your processor and the aluminum surface that helps cooling.
Detail of the nickel-plated copper base and direct contact of the 4 heatpipes on the 6 mm thick heatsink. As you can see we have the two holes to anchor the support
All the aforementioned allows you to cool 95W processor (TDP), that is, Intel Core i3, i5 and i7 processor . For example, you would have no problem cooling the new i5-6600k or i7-6700k processors.
It is compatible with the entire current series of latest generation processors :
- Intel Socket LGA1150 / 1151/1155/1156. AMD Socket AM2 / AM3 / FM1 / FM2.
As standard it has a 92 mm fan mounted and a fairly narrow thickness. The fan combines a gray frame and deep blue blades. Its bearings are lubricated bushings, its minimum turning speed is 1200 RPM and it is capable of reaching up to 2500 RPM .
Its maximum air flow is 40 CFM and it is capable of releasing about 28.3 dB (A) . Its minimum voltage is 7V and it has established a useful life of 40, 000 hours ( MTBF ) . The fan is 4-pin (PWM) and is automatically controlled by the motherboard .

Installation on Intel platform
As always we have chosen the most current platform to do our performance tests. The installation is very simple, we detail it below.
The first step is to fix the intel anchors towards the base of the heatsink.
We apply thermal paste to the processor and then we will fix the heatsink with the four screws. Have enough eye when it comes to squeezing, do not be gross and force it.
Now we only have to connect the power cable (4 pins - PWM) to the motherboard. Although in our case the installation has been on an ATX motherboard, we can say that you will not have any problem with any motherboard (as long as it is from the compatible socket).

To test the real performance of the heatsink we are going to stress the best processors on the market: Intel Skylake i5-6600k. Our tests consist of 72 uninterrupted hours of work. In stock values and with overclock 4200 mhz. In this way we can observe the highest temperature peaks and the average that the heatsink reaches. We must bear in mind that when playing or using other types of software, temperatures will drop dramatically between 7 to 12ºC.
WE RECOMMEND YOU Silverver introduces new high-powered Strider Titanium fontsHow are we going to measure the processor temperature?
We will use the internal sensors of the processor. For that test on Intel processors we will use the CPUID HwMonitor application in its latest version. Although it is not the most reliable test of the moment, it will be our reference in all our analyzes. The ambient temperature is 20º.
Let's see the results obtained:
Final words and conclusion
We can confirm that the Silverstone Argon AR06 is one of the best low-profile heatsinks on the market today. It has an attractive design, very effective and offering the performance of a larger heatsink.
In our tests with an i5-6600k processor it has reached up to 4200 MHz with overclocking and really good temperatures. Another of its strong points is its low noise in its 92mm fan. This is capable of working at a base speed of 1200 RPM and 28 dB (a).
Currently it can be found in online stores for about 48 euros. An excellent price for a heatsink in this category.
