A few years ago, thinking about an ITX equipment with a small size, that we could fit a high-end graphics card, an overclocked i7 processor was almost unthinkable. Now Silverstone has given it another twist with the launch of its new Silverstone SX700-LPT power supply with SFX format and 80 PLUS Platinum certification.

Do not miss our review in Spanish. Here we go!

We thank Silverstone for trusting the product for their analysis.

Unboxing and Design

Silverstone makes a presentation very pleasing to the eye, in a small format and using the combination of blue and black. On the cover we can see an image of the Silverstone SX700-LPT and in large letters the product model.

While on the back we have all the most important technical characteristics of the product in different languages.

Once we open the box we find excellent protection in all components.

As many of you already know, there are several formats of power supplies. The ones we have analyzed the most are the ATX (Standard) and some smaller agents called: SFX. Silverstone innovates with its own design: SFX-L that maintains the same width but is somewhat longer. What do we gain from this? Basically insert a bigger fan, improve all the cooling and use higher quality components. Its cons? That the boxes that incorporate it, for now, are only Silverstone.

Exactly the Silverstone SX700-LPT has dimensions of 125 mm wide, 63.5 mm high and a depth of 130 mm. When we put it on the scale it oscillates 1.68 KG, a weight close to what a component of its high-end ATX characteristics offers.

The core is manufactured by the Sirtec team, which is one of the classics by the company with these reduced formats. Don't be fooled by the size as any Z170 or X99 can move one or two graphics cards together without messing up.

In the upper area we find the already known fan, specifically the Poweryear PY-12015H12S 120 mm and that can reach up to 1, 900 RPM of speed and 0.22 amps. Being a 0DB or SemiFanless power supply, the fan is not active at rest and it is activated when the demand for more energy occurs to keep all its components fresh.

As a high-end power supply it only incorporates a single + 12V rail with 58.4A (amps) that will provide a total of 678w actual.

The cable management is totally modular, which allows us to carry out clean assemblies. We really liked that in this new version the cables are longer, without the need to buy extensions and they are much more flexible. Without further delay we indicate which ones bring:

  • 1 x 24/20-pin motherboard connector (300mm).1 x 8/4-pin EPS / ATX 12V connector (400mm).2 x 8/6-pin PCIe connector (400mm / 150mm).2 x 8/6-pin PCIe connector (550mm / 150mm).6 x SATA connector ("300mm / 200mm / 100mm" x 2).3 x SATA connector (600mm / 150mm / 150mm).3 x 4-pin peripheral connector (300mm / 200mm / 200mm).1 x 4-pin floppy adapter connector (100mm).

Final words and conclusion about Silverstone SX700-LPT

The Silverstone SX700-LPT PSU is one of the best most powerful SFX-L power supplies on the market, both for its power, quality, cooling, 80 PLUS Platinum certification and low noise at full power.

We believe that this new standard is the ideal, as it has nothing to envy a traditional power supply and we avoided the annoying noise of SFX power supplies at full power, which was not much, but it did exist. The only downside that only the new Silverstone ML and Raven ITX series supports.

After doing several tests with a high power equipment: i5 6600k + GTX 1070 in stock values, it has given excellent values in its voltage lines such as consumption at rest and maximum power. Pleasantly surprised by the performance! Good job Silverstone!

This beauty is currently available in online stores for a price of 179 euros. Can it be expensive? Yes, but if we compare it with the rest of 80 PLUS Platinum power supplies, its price is totally justifiable and it has nothing to envy in this standard format.
