SK Hynix has announced its Gold P31 and Platinum P31 PCIe NVMe SSDs

SK Hynix has been a major component supplier to several OEM computer manufacturers for the past decade, but the recent launch of the SuperCore Gold S31 series, a SATA SSD, marked the company's entry into the consumer market in the United States..

The company will introduce two new PCIe NVMe SSDs that target those looking for better performance in multimedia and gaming. Both units are made with the company's latest '4D NAND' 128-layer flash. The new flash is making its way to the market pretty quickly, as SK Hynix just announced it six months ago.

SK Hynix did not reveal further details about the SSD drives. The company designs and manufactures DRAM, NAND, and SSD controllers in-house, giving it an advantage over many of its competitors using standard components. Considering that the company manufactures DRAM, it is unlikely that the SSD driver design lacks cache, but we are still waiting for comments on specific aspects.

Indeed, Hynix will be at CES presenting these two 128-layer NVMe 4D NAND SSDs, where we should know more about their specifications, price and release date.
