Sk hynix already has 72 layer and 512 gb nand chips
Table of contents:
SK Hynix has announced that it already has 72-layer 3D NAND memory chips with a capacity of 512 Gb, this will allow you to create new SSD drives with a much higher capacity than current disks at very competitive prices.
New SK Hynix SSDs with 72-layer, 512Gb NAND chips
These new SK Hynix 72-layer, 512Gb chips will be combined with new firmware and a SK Hynix controller to create new SSDs with capacities up to 4TB with a 2.5-inch format and performance that reaches 560MB / s and 515 MB / s in sequential read and sequential write respectively. The random performance reaches 98, 000 IOPS and 32, 000 IOPS in reading and writing, so we are talking about very competent disks in terms of pure performance.
SSD drives with TLC vs MLC memories
To all this, new disks will be added for the business sector with a PCI Express format and the same memory technology of 512 Gb and 72 layers, these disks will reach a capacity of 1 TB and will have sequential read and write speeds of 2, 700 MB / s and 1, 100 MB / s while its random features will reach 230, 000 IOPS and 35, 000 IOPS.
These high-density 512 Gb chips will make the performance of each silicon wafer much higher, so the production costs will be lower and it will be possible to offer a product with a final sale price much more attractive to the user.
