SK Hynix is the Korean memory manufacturer that is immediately behind Samsung, has communicated through an update to its catalog, it communicates that it already has available its GDDR6 memory chips with a capacity of 8 Gb.

These new 8 Gb GDDR6 chips are offered in four variants differentiated by their transfer speed, so there are H56C8H24MJR-S2C models at 14 Gbps and 12 Gbps and H56C8H24MJR-S0C at 12 Gbps and 10 Gbps, of the second there are two different versions. The first two are more energy efficient by needing a voltage of 1.25V while the second need 1.35V to function.
This announcement comes at a time when Samsung has already announced that it has launched mass production of its new GDDR6 chips with a capacity of 16 Gb (2 GB) that will allow to reach configurations with 16 GB of VRAM using an interface of 256 bit or 8GB total using only 128 bit interface. Samsung's big advantage is that it can reach a frequency of 18 Gbps using the same 1.35V voltage as SK Hynix's faster chips.
GDDR6 memory will hit the consumer market along with new graphics cards, Nvidia is expected to be the first to move tab with its Ampere / Volta architecture.
