Snapdragon 835 vs intel celeron n3450 on windows 10
Table of contents:
Hardware Unboxed offers us a very interesting comparison again, this time it is the Snapdragon 835 and Intel Celeron N3450 processors under the Windows 10 operating system.
The Snapdragon 835 has nothing to do with its rival in pure performance
Microsoft and Qualcomm have removed an emulation layer that allows using ARM processors in the Windows 10 operating system, this opens the door to laptops with a battery life of 20 hours or more, but also raises the question of which will be performance. Emulation is a process that always involves a loss of performance, so the question arises as to how Windows 10 and x86 software will work, on a processor based on the ARM architecture.
We recommend you read Qualcomm about Windows 10 tablets and PCs with the Snapdragon 835
Hardware Unboxed has faced the Snapdragon 835 with the Intel Celeron N3450, or what is the same, one of the most powerful ARM processors in the world against one of the most basic X86 chips and with a lower power consumption. The tests are quite clear, the Windows Store applications are quite optimized and the Qualcomm processor holds up to the guy quite well, but once we get out of there its performance plummets, and it has nothing to do with the Intel Celeron N3450.
The conclusion is clear, current ARM processors are short on power to make Windows 10 work successfully through emulation, something that was already expected, but has finally been confirmed. The gross performance of the Snapdragon 835 is not much higher than that of the Intel Celeron N3450, so it has nothing to do with this when you have to face a layer of emulation. Of course, in autonomy they are the undisputed kings.
It is possible that the situation will change as ARM processors become more powerful, although the x86 also continue to evolve, so it seems very difficult for this gap to close.
