Table of contents:
This week Snapdragon 865, Qualcomm's new high-end processor, was unveiled. A chip that is the most powerful that the company has left us so far, but it does not exceed A13 Bionic. At least this is the conclusion that can be drawn after the first benchmarks that have been published of this signature processor.
Snapdragon 865 does not outperform A13 Bionic in its benchmarks
The firm said that this processor was going to be 25% faster than the previous generation, in addition to having a 20% faster GPU. This is something that has been fulfilled at all times.
More powerful
Despite performance improvements, Snapdragon 865 lags behind this year's Apple processor. In fact, even in single-core testing we can see that it lags even behind last year's iPhone processor. Although in multi-core tests this is no longer the case, and it is crowned as the second most powerful processor on the market.
They are good results, showing the progress of this Qualcomm range. Although they are still not enough to beat Apple in this regard. So they will have to continue working at the firm, but the high-end of 2020 will be powerful.
There are already brands like Xiaomi that have confirmed that they will use Snapdragon 865 in its high range. It will be the processor par excellence in this market segment for next year. So we are sure to know much more about it these weeks. At least the advance in performance compared to last year is a reality.
