This week it was announced that Sony was moving production of its phones to Thailand, thus leaving China. This is an important change for the brand, which seeks to reduce production costs. Although it is not the only change, as it is announced that its mobile division is also being restructured.

Since April 1 today, it can be said that the mobile division of the company disappears. What they have done is make it part of another department, within the divisions of cameras, televisions and audio.

These are divisions within Sony that work well today, generating benefits in all of them. While its phone division is something that continues to generate losses to the Japanese company. Therefore, it seems that it is a way to improve its results in this way, or to reduce the losses that exist within this department in the firm.

Since about 1 billion have been lost in this phone division. Therefore, between 2019 and 2020 we find many changes in this division of the brand. Its main objective is to generate profits again. So we will see if this is achieved.

Now that Sony starts producing in Thailand, the results should be better anyway. But we will see what more changes there are in these weeks, because it seems that the Japanese firm has a major restructuring of its organization chart planned for the coming months.
