The arrival of a new generation of video game consoles is closer with each passing day, which is why we have already begun to see the first rumors about the new Playstation 5 from Sony. This time it has been pointed out that Sony would already be sending the first development kits for its new platform.

Playstation 5 would arrive at the end of 2019

It has recently come to light that Sony has registered a patent on backward compatibility with previous versions of software, something that could be related to the Playstation 5 although the latter is still a mere rumor. Now, video game journalist Marcus Sellars has spoken on Twitter that Sony has already started sending developers the first Playstation 5 kits.

For quite some time it has been pointed out that the arrival of the Playstation 5 would take place in late 2019 or early 2020, most likely it is the first thing to take advantage of the Christmas campaign. PS4 Pro arrived at the end of 2016, so a three-year period from this and six years from the original PS4 seems quite reasonable for the arrival of a new generation.

On the other hand, Sony is dominating this generation with more than 70 million consoles sold so it does not have any pressure when it comes to putting a new platform on the market, unless Xbox One X begins to turn the situation around starting in the coming months, something that doesn't seem too likely. In any case we will still have to wait long to have an official announcement from Sony in reference to its new video game console.
