Microsoft is updating its hybrid tablet and laptop Surface Pro. Almost a year and a half has passed since version 5, and today Microsoft announced Surface Pro 6 with a specification update and a new variant in black.

Surface Pro 6 Announces Eighth Generation Intel CPU

This is the first time in at least five years that we have seen Microsoft use black on Surface Pro from the original model and the subsequent Surface Pro 2. The matte black finish covers the entire Surface Pro 6, and you can change the keyboard for other colors as usual. However, the addition of a matte black model is not the only novelty.

Surface team boss Panos Panay says the company has upgraded the interior of the Surface Pro 6 to improve cooling. This means that it now supports quad-core processors, and Microsoft claims it will be 67% faster than the previous model.

Better specs, new color black but no SUB-C

This new internal design should also help improve battery life. Microsoft says the Surface Pro 6 will offer 13.5 hours of use. Although there is an internal redesign, the exterior does not undergo too many changes compared to the previous model. It still weighs 1.7 pounds (770 grams) and has the same 12.3-inch screen and up to a maximum of 16GB of RAM.

The only disappointing thing is that it will include the same connectivity and external design as the existing model, which means that there are still no USB-C ports, which is becoming a recurring claim. This doesn't seem to make much sense, considering the Surface Go and Surface Book 2 do have USB-C support.

Microsoft says the Surface Pro 6 will cost about $ 899 for the base model with an Intel Core i5 processor, and will be available on October 16.
