The use of thinner materials and devices always carries a price to pay, in addition to the higher cost of making them as such. Surface Pro 6 is stronger than the iPad Pro, although it scratches more easily
Zack Nelson of JerryRigEverything has compared the resistance of the Microsoft Surface Pro 6 against the 11-inch iPad Pro, to see if the Microsoft device is really stronger than its rival. It must be said that Surface Pro 6 already has immediate advantages. It is larger at 12.3 inches compared to 11 inches on the iPad Pro. It is also 2mm thicker than the iPad Pro and has a kickstand that increases stiffness on a higher level. More importantly, there doesn't seem to be any point where Microsoft introduced structural edge flaws, also unlike the iPad Pro.

So it's not surprising that the Surface Pro 6 survives in Nelson's mighty hands without breaking completely. There's a bit of flexibility and some separation of the screen from the frame, but overall, the Surface Pro 6 manages to survive the tests. It does have another problem, though, during the scratch test, the Surface Pro 6 cracked more easily than the iPad, though we're not quite sure how much force Nelson applied here. In short, it is not exactly the strongest screen.
Unlike smartphones, resistance to this type of tests is less relevant for tablets, since the chances of the user sitting on them or folding them with their hands are less.
