Amd graphics cards with ray tracing? It is already in development!
Table of contents:
In interviews for Tom's Hardware and PC World, AMD CEO Lisa Su has made several very interesting statements. Among them, he has said that ray tracing in Radeon is on the way.
After a presentation of the Radeon VII that left more questions than answers, one of them is if AMD has plans regarding ray tracing in real time. In the interviews, Lisa Su reaffirmed in this regard that they are in it on both the software and hardware sides.
AMD will use Ray Tracing on its GPUs
In the interview with PC World, he stated that " consumers do not see a great benefit today because the other parts of the ecosystem are not ready ", saying that AMD is " deeply developing" its own ray tracing technology, and that this development it is “concurrent between hardware and software”.
At Tom's Hardware, he said that "they will know more about AMD's plans as the year passes , " suggesting that its technology launch will be earlier than expected.
In view of the interest of both NVIDIA and AMD, it seems that real-time ray tracing is the future. Although the former does not take advantage of it with great success, its use may be the order of the day in a few years. It depends not only on the interest of GPU makers but also on video game makers, so its future remains to be seen.
Of course, it remains to be seen how far both companies go, and in any case the competition is always beneficial, so we could come up with something interesting.
What do you think of these statements? Do you think AMD will be able to match or exceed NVIDIA RTX ray tracing? Do not forget to give your opinion in the comments.
