With the announcement of the GeForce GTX 1080 and GTX 1070, rumors sprang up that AMD had advanced the arrival of Vega until October of this year 2016 to face the most powerful Nvidia cards. Finally, everything indicates that this rumor is false and AMD Vega will not arrive in 2016.

AMD Vega will finally arrive in 2017 with HBM2 memory and focused on the highest range

Vega will be AMD's most ambitious GPU and will have to stand up to Nvidia's most powerful Pascal-based chips. The new AMD architecture is mainly characterized by using HBM2 memory with enormous bandwidth, so we would be talking about cards intended to play at 4K resolution, it will be in these conditions when the architecture can show its full power. It will also be better prepared for DirectX 12 and Vulkan than Pascal, something that is already beginning to be seen after the first tests made with Polaris and the GeForce GTX 1070.

The arrival of AMD Vega in 2016 would not be possible, among other reasons, due to the shortage of HBM2 memory that has not yet entered its mass production phase. With this AMD will have the opportunity to fine-tune the performance of Vega and its drivers a little more to be able to offer a much rounder product from its initial staging.

AMD has never officially spoken of launching Vega in 2016 so this news is not surprising. Hopefully AMD's new architecture is in a position to fight the best of Nvidia.
