Are you looking for the best programs to take a PC test ? Here, you will find the 12 essential applications to check your system.

Many of you ask us about which applications are ideal for a PC test, so we have set to work to bring you a compilation of the best programs to check the performance or state of our PC.

If you want to know them, you just have to scroll down and get comfortable. Let's start!

Monitoring

Every PC installation requires a subsequent check in order to detect faults or conclude that everything is fine. It is possible that we find temperature problems in the computer, so it would be perfect to know, in real time, the temperatures of all the components of our PC.

If you agree with the previous paragraph, what you are looking for is an application to monitor your entire computer.

Below, we show you our preferred applications for monitoring the PC. That said, there are specific AMD / Intel or motherboard manufacturer applications to control and monitor. One of the ones I like the most is the MSI Command Center .

When it comes to graphics card control, the MSI Afterburner is one of the best tools out there. Now we can not only control our graphics, but we can fine-tune their values to overclock , such as increasing the speed of their fans.

Some of you will be saying "Fools!" It is just the opposite. Sometimes the "Auto" mode may be insufficient, requiring manual temperature control. With the latest graphics cards there is no problem, but with the older ones it would be good to have a more exhaustive control.

We can modify the following:

  • Power limit . Basically, if you want to set (as a percentage) some specific power limit. Temperature limit . As soon as this temperature is exceeded, the graph turns off. It is a security measure that we can alter with Afterburner, being able to lower it even. Core Clock. We dive into overclocking to get the most out of our graphics. From here, we always say to make an OC as smooth as possible, as long as the graphics card is ready for it. Memory Clock. It is the speed of memory, which we can modify. Fan Speed. Here we see the performance of the fans expressed as a percentage. We can do two things:
    • Leave it in the car. Initially, we will use the default configuration of MSI Afterburner. On the other hand, we can configure the auto mode to program the speed of the fans at certain temperatures. I recommend this last option, as long as it is an ascending programming, according to the temperature, and with sense. Adjust it manually. If we see that the graph is in auto mode, at 75 degrees and its fans are underperforming, it would be advisable to adjust their speed manually. Do not put it at 100%, you will never need it. Go experiment with trial and error to see how the temperature drops. For reference, I have never set the speed of the graphics fans to more than 60%.

The other facet of this application is that it has a brilliant menu of options. We can customize almost everything, including the appearance or interface of the program. In fact, we can even do a quick benchmark, although for this purpose we have other applications.

CPU-Z

As for CPU monitoring, one of the best is CPU-Z. Thanks to it, we can know everything we want about our processor, motherboard and RAM memories. In it we can consult the multipliers, Bus speed, core speed , cache, voltages, RAM frequencies , amount of RAM and even the graphics card.

We will know what components we have in our computer. In addition, it has a small benchmark to make a quick and easy PC test. But, below we will find specific solutions for this purpose.

To tell us, it tells us even the version of the operating system we have, such as DirectX. Absolutely everything! It is like the “Hacienda” of the components: it knows everything.

By the way, if you want to use a simpler one (still), you can take a look at Speccy.

TechPowerUp GPU-Z

It is a specific program to monitor our graphics card. It is practically the same as CPU-Z, but on graphics cards. In this sense, it is the tool that gives us more information about our graphics card, as it tells us what is happening in real time.

We highly recommend it, although you may not need as much information because it is not very useful.

CrystalDiskInfo

From the company Crystal Dew World, this application solemnly promises to tell us the whole truth about our hard drive. It seems to me the best tool to monitor a hard disk, especially if you buy a reconditioned one.

Why am I saying this? Because with CrystalDiskInfo we can know everything about our hard drive:

  • The times it has been turned on How many hours it has been turned on The greeting state Its temperature

Not only that, but we can know even its firmware or the transfer mode to which it is connected. It is a simple application, but very useful.

Benchmark or stress tests

In this case, we find many applications that promise to give us an approximate performance of our processor, graphics card or RAM. They are programs that evaluate the performance of the component through a stress test that requires that it give its all.

There are many more than we found here, so don't worry because they are not the only benchmark tools on the market.

AIDA64 Extreme

One of our favorites. This diagnostic system is one of the most complete we found; in fact, it is widely used in the professional sector by engineers or computer scientists. In this sense, it offers us the possibility of doing a reliable and truthful PC test, in which we choose that it is subject to examination:

  • CPU. Cache. System memory. Hard drives. Graphic card.

Finally, AIDA64 will do the testing and, with the result it gets, it will put your processor in a kind of performance classification that many processors are in. This is done to give you an idea of which processor your CPU performance is equivalent to.

If you want my opinion, I recommend this program to do a CPU or memory benchmark. The reason is that there are more specific tools for graphics cards, such as RAM memory.

By the way, this tool is paid, but it has a free trial version. On the other hand, we also patch PassMark for a comprehensive benchmark. If you don't rest easy, you can always use Cinebench as another additional stress test.

In the event that you have an Intel processor, we recommend the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool, which is a free program focused on Intel processors.

Furmark

Furmark is a free program that serves to stress and test our graphics card. With this PC test we can know how much performance we can get from our GPU because it creates super complex 3D graphics that put our graphics on the tightrope.

Many professionals say that it is better than starting a video game and controlling the FPS because none offers such complex images to process. Of course, we insist that you use HWMonitor along with this benchmark so that your graphics card does not suffer damage, or heating problems. Anyway, it would be strange if nothing happened to your GPU.

On the other hand, you can always complement this diagnosis with Unigine Heaven or 3D Mark. These are two highly recommended apps (like Furmark) that focus on graphics performance.

Finally, we have a hard disk that does not work as fast as it should and that takes many times to open a folder. Is this your case? Don't worry because our friend "Mark" comes to the rescue with his CrystalDiskMark tool .

It is the one that everyone uses to do a quick PC test of hard drives to know their behavior, such as the speeds with which they can work. Initially, we will have 3 tabs:

  • The first, by default, comes with a 5, which indicates the cycles or passes that the program will do. The second, by default, comes with a 1GiB, as the test size that we will run. The third, the main hard disk. If you have multiple hard drives, you can select the one you want.

We will have to press the " All " button to see the read and write speeds of our hard drive. We find it a truly useful tool to know the state of our hard drives.

We would have already finished our collection of applications to check our PC. We hope that it has served you and, if you have any that we have not posted, do not hesitate to comment below.
