The Thermaltake brand has announced at CES the WaterRAM, its first DDR4 memory modules with a particularity: they include liquid cooling. Will it be a useful concept? Let's see it.

Thermaltake WaterRAM: Are Liquid Cooled Memories Really Needed?

As we say, these modules include a liquid cooling system created to combine with the brand's existing systems, and which is based on placing a block above the memory modules. Therefore, these modules can be used separately and it is not mandatory to place them with the block on top.

These memories will be available in two variants: 16 or 32GB. In both cases, they are prepared to operate at 3200MHz, which sounds a little low for such a system, considering that any DDR4-3200 RAM is perfectly cooled with a simple aluminum heatsink, but this product seems to be more oriented to overclocking than they would not be possible with conventional refrigeration. Despite this, the truth is that its 3200MHz CL16 seem somewhat limited.

In addition to this, the block has RGB lighting that is not at all discreet and that gives the team a very interesting aesthetic touch. Like other Thermaltake RGB products, we have the possibility of controlling the lights by voice, using the brand's app or Amazon Alexa, and compatibility with ASUS Aura Sync, Gigabyte RGB Fusion and MSI Mystic Light Sync.

These memories hit the market at $ 439 for the 32GB kit. This is a very high amount since you can find other 32GB DDR4-3200 memory kits for just $ 260. It is then a product intended for a very specific niche of users who want to benefit from the aesthetic load of these modules and possible overclocks without price being an important factor.
