Thermaltake V200 TG RGB is undoubtedly one of those chassis that attracts attention just by seeing it. With a front full of standard fans with configurable RGB lighting that can be seen through its transparent front and a tempered glass that is almost a mirror, it leaves no doubt that its design has been very original.

Today we will see if this box, in addition to being beautiful, also fulfills its mission, which is none other than keeping our components working fresh and clean. We will analyze all this and much more in our review.

And how can we not thank Thermaltake for their trust in us to give us their V200 TG RGB for this analysis.

Thermaltake V200 TG RGB technical features

Unboxing and design

The first thing we will have to do as always is to remove this Thermaltake V200 TG RGB from its packaging. As usual, it is presented to us in a neutral colored cardboard box with the serigraphy of the product and the chassis model. On the outside of this it makes it very clear that we are dealing with the RGB version, since we can also find this chassis in a basic version.

We open the box and find our chassis wrapped in the typical translucent plastic bag. In turn, it is held on both sides by the corresponding white corks. On the other hand, on the side where the tempered glass is mounted, we do not find any protection.

We extract Thermaltake V200 TG RGB from its box and we found nothing else, since both the instructions and the screws come inside the box well attached to its elements. The tempered glass is protected by two protective plastics glued to it. And in the two rear corners of the glass we have removable plastic protectors, a very important detail to avoid fatal blows.

Thermaltake V200 TG RGB is a mid tower or Middle Tower type chassis in ATX format. For its construction, black SPCC steel has been used both outside and inside. On its side we find a large 4mm thick tempered glass panel that allows you to see the entire interior of this chassis. Undoubtedly what stands out most about it is its mirror finish, since as we see in the image reflects an exaggerated what is around us.

The lateral glass can be easily removed by means of hand threaded screws in its four corners. At the same time we have rubber bands to protect the coupling of the glass in the metallic chassis, something that has been common in these mid-high range chassis.

We must note that the chassis itself does not have RGB lighting, although it would be possible to install it using led strips, in this case, it is the fans that have the lighting.

The measures specified for this chassis are 446 mm deep, 204 mm wide and 439 mm high, so it is not too big, especially in its width. We will see later if this influences the management of components and wiring.

As for the weight, we are facing a fairly dense chassis with its 7.1 kg makes it clear that its elements are made for durability.

The front of this Thermaltake V200 TG RGB is totally clean, we did not even find a brand logo, although it is not necessary either since we are facing a black tinted PVC construction. This allows the fans to only be visible when they are on and, like tempered glass, it also reflects what is around us, giving the entire chassis a metallic look.

On its left side we have a curved finish that connects harmoniously with the glass. On the right side, it has a large air intake, unprotected from dust, so we will have to periodically clean its three fans.

Speaking of these, they are located between the metal chassis and the front, so their removal is quite simple and also prevents us from having these elements in the compartment of the electronic components.

At the top we have a large air extraction grille protected by a magnetic dust mesh located on the outside of the chassis. In this way we can easily remove and clean it.

We also find in this part all the Thermaltake V200 TG RGB I / O panel. This is composed of two USB 2.0 ports and one 3.0 differentiated by the blue color.

We also have the classic 3.5-inch Jack connectors available for audio output and microphone connection. Regarding the buttons, we have the On / Off button, the RESET button and the RGB control button for the fans.

We go to the right side of the chassis, where a smooth black steel sheet is removable with hand screws and without anything else to remark. As we said before, from this angle we can see the air sump on the front with a black plastic Mesh design.

We continue our exterior review with the Thermaltake V200 TG RGB rear. In it we find located in the lower part the compartment of the power supply, which has its own fairing that isolates it from the rest of the components.

Right above us we have available 7 typical expansion slots for an ATX type board. Except the first sheet, the rest must be removed by force, since they are welded to the chassis. This is a negative point in our opinion for a chassis of this range. We also have a fixing plate for the expansion cards installed that are easy to use using a hand screw.

At the top we have the ventilation hole with capacity for a 120 mm fan that comes pre-installed at the factory, although it does not have lighting.

Finishing with the outside, it's time to talk about the bottom. Thermaltake V200 TG RGB has 4 round rubber feet with their chrome exterior and leaving a good gap to ensure air flow from the power supply. It also has a removable plastic dust filter to protect the air from entering the power supply. It is not too big, although we consider it correct, at least the filter is anti-dust and not a simple metal grill

Interior and assembly

We remove the tempered glass and the protective sheet and we go to study the interior of this chassis, which at first glance we see that it is spacious and with many possibilities when it comes to cooling. Its compartment for the motherboard allows us to install ITX, Micro-ATX and ATX formats, which could be expected in any case.

As we have seen in another chassis, this one has a large opening in the fairing of the power supply to reveal part of it. There are also openings in the hard drive compartment to facilitate air flow also inside, otherwise they would be totally isolated.

Thermaltake V200 TG RGB can house CPU coolers up to 160mm and 380mm graphics cards. We already mentioned at the beginning that it was a narrow chassis and this can be seen in the measure of CPU coolers, so we must be vigilant if we have one of greater length. As for the graphics card measurements, there will be no problems since it supports the measurements of the top range.

Without a doubt one of the specially studied sections of this Thermaltake V200 TG RGB is that of ventilation. and so it shows by implementing 3 RGB fans as standard on its front and another normal 120mm on its back. If we compare these independently, they would cost us almost half that of this complete chassis. Let's see the different configurations that it supports.

Fans:

  • Front: 120mm x3 (included) / 140mm x2 Rear: 120mm x1 (included) Top: 120mm x2 / 140mm x2

Po so that in total we can have up to 6 120 mm fans in operation or 4 of 140. We highlight the possibility of installing the front fans in the gap between the chassis and the exterior trim.

Regarding cooling, we will have practically the possibilities of high-end chassis:

  • Front: 120mm / 240mm / 280mm Rear: 120mm Top: 240mm / 280mm

As we see we have everything we need. The possibility of installing refrigeration in the upper part does not appear in the technical sheet of the brand, but we can realize that it is perfectly feasible to do so.

We also have plenty of space for the installation of hard drives. Up to 3 units of 2.5 " on the side next to the motherboard and another 2 units of 3.5" in the lower compartment.

At the back we have a space for cable management of about 25 mm thick, quite tight space if we have a large number of components. We can already see that there are quite a few fan cables and panel I / O ports as standard. The free space to install or uninstall the CPU without removing the board is ample as well as the hole for the power supply.

As standard we have a microcontroller for fan lighting that can be controlled using the external button. It doesn't seem like this one has any more space available for fans, but it does have one to install an RGB lighting strip. We have different lighting configurations with fixed colors and pulsation style, but we do not have the possibility of a rainbow mode like other chassis. It is not necessary either because the result is spectacular.

Finally we leave you with some images of Thermaltake V200 TG RGB in all its glory. The assembly of components has been quick, although it is very important to remove the racks from the slots before mounting the motherboard. Otherwise you will have to withdraw it again. The result in any case is extremely satisfactory, with that metallic appearance.

Final words and conclusion about Thermaltake V200 TG RGB

Thermaltake V200 TG RGB is a chassis with a very striking aesthetic section with its lighting and the metallic aspect that gives having so much light reflection on its front and side. One of its strong points is also the wide range of possibilities in terms of ventilation and cooling, since we have enough openings for ventilation of various sizes.

Cable management is acceptable, considering that we already have a large tangle of cables as standard. The connections are not very visible and this gives a very clean aspect to the visible part. We miss less rubbers in the cable holes for a better finish and also a closed lower fairing or with less holes.

With the equipment running we have appreciated that it is a very quiet chassis despite having 4 fans running. And thanks to the RGB configuration button we can put the lighting of these to our liking.

The assembly made consists of high-end components such as: AMD Ryzen 2700X, Nivida GTX 1080 Ti, 16 GB DDR4, Asus motherboard and 80 Plus Platinum power supply

We also recommend visiting our list of the best PC coolers, fans and liquid cooling

As for the aspects to be improved, we can mention the fact that we do not have dust filters on the front, so these three fans will get dirty quite often. We also recommend to be very careful with its front part, since it is plastic and sensitive to scratches. Finally we see unnecessary the installation of grids for slots welded instead of screwed.

This chassis can be found for a recommended price of 78 euros, so it is undoubtedly a very good option for its appearance, performance and the large number of fans that it brings as standard.
