The Thunder X3 TM50 mouse comes to us with a presentation that we have already seen previously in the company's mice, a cardboard box in the photos, the colors black and orange predominate, and with a large window so that we nickname to appreciate the product before passing per box, all a detail that leaves us a pleasant feeling. When opening the window we can also see the main characteristics of the mouse, among which we find its Avago 3310 sensor with 10, 000 DPI, a large scroll wheel for greater precision, Omron mechanisms, an aluminum base for very smooth sliding and a side panel. Interchangeable rubber.

We open the box and find a plastic blister pack containing the properly protected mouse, the rubber side panel and a spare Teflon surf set. We highlight the possibility that the mouse offers us to change its plastic side panel for a rubber one for a better grip.

We turn to look at the mouse itself, as in its younger brothers we find braided cable that helps achieve greater resistance and with a finish that combines black and white for a quite attractive appearance. The mouse of factory with a body of plastic and aluminum that transmits a sensation of enormous quality, this model is located just below the top of the range, the TM60, and is something that shows in the care that the manufacturer has put.

The ThunderX3 TM50 has dimensions of 125 x 78 mm x 38 mm along with a weight of 175 grams, a figure that does not make it the lightest mouse on the market, although in return it will give us better precision when sliding it on the surface of our mat. The mouse is made of a combination of high quality plastic and aluminum, and the left side has a small area with rubber to improve grip and prevent it from flying off the table in sudden slides. The wheel is also made in black and features a large size and a rubber finish to improve finger grip, just like the TM60 it offers excellent performance, quite simply the best mouse wheel that has ever passed my fingers.

Next to the wheel is the small button dedicated to adjusting the DPI level of the sensor on the fly and at preset values of 1500/3000/6000/10000 DPI. A high DPI value allows us to make a great tour with a very small movement of the mouse so it will be especially suitable for multi-monitor configurations. In contrast, low DPI values will be ideal in games where high precision of movement is required. Next to the button we find three small indicator lights that inform us of the DPI mode that we have activated, there are a total of four DPI modes since three of them correspond to each of the indicators and the fourth corresponds to all the indicators turned off.

At the top we find the two main buttons that have OMRON Japanese mechanisms of enormous quality and that ensure at least 20 million keystrokes, there is no doubt that it is a mouse that has been designed to offer the user great durability, These buttons are slightly curved to offer a much more comfortable grip and are perfectly accessible to the fingers without any effort. On the back we find the logo of the brand that this time is part of the lighting system.

On the left side we find the two buttons that are so common and that will serve us to perform tasks such as going back and forth in web browsing in a very comfortable way, it also provides us with two additional controls for our games and shortcuts for many more tasks. They are pleasant to the touch and are quite hard, giving us a good quality feeling that will not break in a short time. The right side is completely free.

At the bottom we find the AVAGO-3310 sensor with a maximum resolution of 10, 000 DPI, 20G and 60 IPS, making it a mouse with very high levels of precision and that will satisfy all players, no matter how demanding they are.

At the end of the 1.8 meter USB cable we find the USB connector of a fairly large size and gold plated for better conservation over time and better contact.

ThunderX3 software

The ThunderX3 TM50 mouse can be used without the need to install any software, although we highly recommend its installation in order to take full advantage of it. The software can be downloaded from the official website of the manufacturer, once downloaded its installation is extremely easy.

We open the software and we find a design of the application the same as that seen in the other mice of the brand that we have tested. The application allows us to create up to three profiles so that we can always have our mouse ready for different situations of use, something that is highly appreciated. Thus we will always have at hand different button configurations and all the mouse parameters.

Through the software we can assign the functions that we want to its six programmable buttons in a very simple and intuitive way. We find functions as varied and advanced as typical of a mouse, keyboard events such as save, cut, paste, select, search…, functions related to the playback of multimedia files, adjustment of DPI values, profile change and a powerful manager macros.

We continue with the possibility of configuring the mouse lighting in color, intensity, light effect (breathing or continuous) and the speed in case we choose the breathing mode. Being an RGB system we can configure the lighting in no less than 16.8 million colors, something that will allow us to give a unique touch to our desktop.

To finish we find the mouse sensor settings, we can configure its four DPI profiles in values ranging from 50 to 10, 000, always in ranges of 50. We also find the settings for acceleration and polling rate. As we can see it is a very configurable mouse so it will be easy to leave it to our liking.

Final words and conclusion about ThunderX3 TM50

After trying the TM60 model, I really wanted to get my hands on the immediately lower model, just like its older brother gives us the feeling of quality and very high performance. During the time that I have been using it, it has shown itself to be an excellent mouse for all types of users. A design that feels comfortable in the hand, buttons with switches of the best quality, a good quality sensor and a highly configurable lighting system, has everything to be one of the stars of our desk.

The movement of the mouse is excellent, getting to work in perfect conditions on various surfaces, although as always, if we want to obtain the best result, the ideal is to use a mat. Having a somewhat high weight gives us great control and greater precision in our movements, and its aluminum base makes it slide effortlessly.

After using the mouse for several hours we can affirm that its operation is very pleasant both in basic tasks and in games, the button to adjust the DPI allows us to regulate the speed of the cursor movement to adapt it to our needs and all this in a very comfortable.
