A domain registration of 10 euros!

In order to stop the WannaCry ransomware, this researcher found a way that was cheaper and simpler. This is a very long domain record to which the worm connected. What happens then? The ransomware searches for the domain in the same way that it searches for a web page. When trying to connect, if it saw that the domain was activated, it stopped attacking and spreading. The most incredible thing of all is that this solution hardly costs 10 $.

Despite this good news, there is also a downside. For those who have already been affected by this attack, this way of preventing its spread does not work. The most effective way to stop ransomware is with security patches. Some are currently being launched and prepared in order to end the attack.

WannaCry affects Windows, especially those computers that did not update after the March 14 security patch.
