A little piece of cloud: google drive
After a couple of years of rumors, Google has made the launch of its new storage platform official, allowing you to save photos, videos and other digital files in the Internet 'cloud'. Google offers us:
- Free 5GB for each account, which will be expandable 25GB for $ 2.5 a month up to a maximum of 100GB Compatibility with large operating systems (according to their website)
- PC and MaciPhone and iPad (coming soon) Android Devices
The advantage is similar to what Dropbox, SkyDrive designed by Microsoft or iPhone iCloud can offer us, the difference is that being a Google service, we will be able to integrate it with Android and synchronize it with Google Docs and Gmail, it is even rumored that it can be integrate with Google+. If you ask me, I would say that the latter is a must and something that would enhance the use of a social network that many still question.
The disadvantages may be that it does not provide anything new, since everything except synchronization can be found on the network. The big drawback, and for which a large number of users are very upset, is that Google Drive does not yet have support for Linux. They report that they are working and that it will be operational via the web, but that there is no native application to handle Google Drive files as if it were just another folder on your computer.
Hopefully Google can fix it soon (cross your flippers) and make the service operational for all users, since until now only a minority has been able to access it.
