Vesa announces displayport 1.3
The Video Electronics Standards Association, better known as VESA, has announced the launch of the new DisplayPort 1.3 standard for audio and video that will allow content playback in 4K resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels) at 120 Hz for the first time.
This new specification for DisplayPort 1.3 in addition to the above will allow higher resolution monitors such as the recently announced 5K (5120 x 2880 pixels) monitors using a single DisplayPort cable and avoids the need to compress data for this. It also enables higher resolutions to be achieved with multi-monitor configurations connected to a single DisplayPort port (the Multi-Stream feature).
Recall that this is an update to the DisplayPort 1.2a format that is characterized by increasing the maximum limit of video bandwidth to 32.4 Gbps, with each of its four lines running at 8.1 Gbps / line, which is double that the above specification.
